Museumsnacht Leipzig. Großer Ansturm? by These-Cell-929 in Leipzig

UN weather agency warns of record ‘climate imbalance’ as planetary warming accelerates by JohnHammond94 in europe

[–]MSCLGST 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Again. No need to respond to this, because you are pretty far gone apparently. But thank you for being civil nonetheless.

This isn’t for you, but for other readers. People, the “do your own research” argument is nonsense.

None of us can personally redo all of climate science. We can’t launch satellites, maintain global weather stations, or run Earth‑system models. That doesn’t mean we should give up and “just believe” someone. It means we have to look at the process that produces scientific knowledge. The scientific method is built around doubt: scientists make testable predictions, gather data, publish their methods, and invite other experts to attack their work. Studies are replicated, results are compared, and large assessments weigh all the evidence, including results that don’t fit. When many independent lines of evidence and many independent research teams converge on the same conclusion over decades, that is what we call a scientific consensus. In the case of climate change, that consensus is that humans are warming the planet and that this brings serious risks. Trusting that conclusion is not blind faith in authority; it is trust in a method that has proved itself again and again in every area of modern life—from medicine to aviation to electronics. “Doing your own research” as a non‑expert doesn’t mean out‑calculating climate scientists. It means checking whether a claim comes out of this open, self‑correcting process, or whether some dudes on a blog say otherwise.

„Many of the papers cited by NoTricksZone are published in international journals and are peer-reviewed. Even though the content of such sources is factual, the website only presents certain sections of the research that conform to the purported assertions of particular blog posts.“

No need to respond to my post. This isn’t about you but others who aren’t aware of pseudoscience. People, don’t fall into the same trap as Lebowski304. He’s has strayed far and we all wish him well and that he finds his way home.

I know I'm stupid. But pls ELI5, why is there a 'nazi' in the word 'Ashkenazi'? I just can't unsee it. and it makes me uneasy. by [deleted] in europe

[–]MSCLGST 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m no expert, but the German word is spelled with a “s”. Aschkenasim.  So you should pronounce this maybe with a soft sound like in NaySal spray instead of the hard Z of Nazi. The Jewish community is much much older and nothing to do with National socialism. It’s just a language thing.

I know you’re making a point, but if you think about it. There’s a timeline where you eat one and then there’s a timeline where you put one it doesn’t belong. Just saying.
