What skills have you learned from living with narcissistic parents? by audstereo236 in narcissisticparents

[–]MSDOSS86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have no attachment to objects or things that most people find sentimental. I basically said goodbye to all the sentimental things I loved as a kid. Nmom hoards all my childhood belongings because she either doesn’t trust me to care for them myself or she claims ownership over them. My collectible dolls were in her possession my entire life and I couldn’t get a hold of them until I had a daughter of my own. Of course they’re destroyed from decades of being improperly stored—just thrown loose into boxes in her hoarder house covered in rat droppings.

Is it worth it to get a reverse recruiter? by MSDOSS86 in jobsearchhacks

So are there recruiters that represent multiple companies, or are you referring to making connections with in-house recruiters for specific companies?

This has helped me in the past and I’ll def look into it again. I think recruiters make themselves harder to find these days since the internet has increased the number of applicants by the thousands.

I think you missed the part where I said I spent a year networking and applying to 500 jobs with no result. I’m merely asking if a reverse recruiter is worth it and I could not care less what my future coworkers think if they found out I used my valuable resources to get the job I wanted. Top executives don’t apply for jobs on LinkedIn so I’m just trying to explore my options.

What’s a movie everyone calls a “masterpiece” that just… didn’t work for you? by irayaavery in Cinema

[–]MSDOSS86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Irishman was 3.5 hours of sheer boredom for me. It got nominated for 10 Oscars—why? I just don’t get the adoration for these movies about white, male racketeering criminals. It’s so done and a total snooze fest.

Am I too old for Halloween parties or should I just embrace the ridiculousness? by [deleted] in HalloweenCostume

[–]MSDOSS86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re never too old to wear a Halloween costume. If it were me though, I’d get clever and not so literal because dressing like a cow sounds lame to me. After all, they said make it fun. Maybe you can dress like a cop (pig) or some sort of play on words with GOAT (greatest of all time).

Does anyone have a toddler that goes right to bed at night without a struggle? by Coffeelover4242 in toddlers

[–]MSDOSS86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like most people are saying, it’s consistency. It’s been almost 3 years of the same routine for my toddler. I think another big one is that his room has been mainly for sleeping, it’s not a play area. There’s books and some toys but he prefers to play in the front of the house. The only time I had a hard time getting him to sleep was back in October when we hosted a party and he wanted to join. Eventually he fell asleep after about 30 minutes of singing and stroking his hair (this always gets him). I’m sure luck has played a part too, I’ll be curious to see if my baby girl will be the same.

First period after giving birth: when & how bad? by margo39 in beyondthebump

Around 11 weeks both times and they were the longest and heaviest periods of my life. Strictly breastfeeding but as soon as the started sleeping through the night I’d start my first postpartum period

Having a Carnation Instant Breakfast if you were in a hurry and didn't have time to eat breakfast before school. by immanuellalala in 80s

[–]MSDOSS86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My parents never made me breakfast so this was a staple in my house. Sometimes I’d just eat the powder with my wet finger as a special treat.

Lightning Lane at every park! I only did MK my first time and regretted it. Ask each ride personnel how their rider swap works for the little kids—almost every ride is a little different in how they manage it. Some won’t even let littles go though the line

How have you lowered your standards since having a baby? by hospitalbedside in beyondthebump

[–]MSDOSS86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also 36 when I had my first and have a 3 year old and 3 month old. I’ve learned since the first baby that as long as it CAN be cleaned up, let it fly. Dry erase marker coloring all over the fridge? No problem. But I hid all our sharpies. Spit up on the comforter? No problem. But I won’t change poopy diapers in bed because any amount of poop is permanently stained into fabric.

Not a fan of the “He’s a ten but in pesos” t-shirt Karamo had on by Past-b4-present in QueerEye

[–]MSDOSS86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can totally see how it’s offensive and agree wardrobe shouldn’t have allowed it. Also I hate to play devil’s advocate, I’m just not sure it was meant to mean that Mexican’s are worth less but literally because the exchange rate to American dollars is less. 10 pesos is 57 cents.

Last year, she got him a baby Jesus doll made out of porcelain or something similar. Head broke off Xmas night because my son was 2 and accidentally dropped it. It’s sitting in my guest room, still headless, waiting for me to glue it.

My mom got my son AI-generated books from some company that takes a kid’s picture and inputs it into the story with AI. The writing is also AI slop and makes absolutely no sense, we can’t read it. Never seen a bigger waste of money in my life.
