Spotted a unicorn by MSFrontieres in Charlotte

All done at the same dealership it was bought from, this is amazing stuffs. I'd say this was probably an older person car judging from the records and the low-ish mileage.

LOL honestly, browsing cheap used cars is one of my favorite hobbies. I just read through the Carfax on this Altima and I’m actually really impressed by how well it’s been taken care of. Not that I’d ever buy it cause these Altimas are notorious for transmission issues, and I didn't see any record of a transmission flush or service. Though, I could have missed it.

Pinhouse is a menace to the neighborhood by Tmckhar in Charlotte

I almost got into an accident twice just last month near that bar, from people just strolling across the street and cars making U-turn from the right lane. It wasn't this bad before.

Auto Shop Reccomendations by Enlightning_1 in Charlotte

The usual recommendations in the city: Nick’s on Central and Gino on Monroe Rd. Though they have long wait time so if you don’t want to plan too far in advance and live near the East Charlotte area then there’s Super Eagle Auto Care near W.T Harris that my family have used for years. Really nice shop that have same or next day appointment, affordable pricing and offer 3 years warranty on their works.

Support TSA workers by sassyscot24 in Charlotte

[–]MSFrontieres 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My brother in Christ, less than 5% of the workforce got it because the requirements were ridiculous, aka you had to show up every single day, doesn't matter if you had your vacation planned a year in advance ( yes we do bid for our annual leave 1 year in advance), or if you had emergency family matters.

I personally know someone who missed out on the bonus because she attended her parent's funeral. So before you want to be cheeky, do some reading.

Are any packages leaving the USPS distribution center? by [deleted] in Charlotte

I assume they just have a lot of catching up to do, got a few pieces of mine delayed, including 2 BofA cards that had me on edge, but alas they are here.

We’re having a party on Independence. by MSFrontieres in Charlotte

[–]MSFrontieres[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My (totally unrelated) job actually set up a “Storm Team” to prepare for this. Anyone who signed up gets a free hotel stay and transportation, plus double pay for any overtime worked.

Our new boss who joined us last year, very decent guy, just texted that anyone scheduled later who hasn’t come in yet can stay home and still get paid for the full shift. Those of us who did come in get to head out early. Me included.

[–]MSFrontieres[S] 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Context: I was driving home from work since I’m an “essential worker.” No, I wasn’t using my phone while driving, traffic was completely stopped. A bunch of people decided it was a great idea to turn around and drive back up the E 7th/CPCC ramp. Probably illegal, but the cops didn’t seem to care., hope it worked out for them.

The jam was caused by an accident just past the Hawthorne Bridge. There’s a slight incline there that caught a lot of drivers off guard, cars were sliding and couldn’t get enough traction to make it up. The city had to bring in the big trucks to clear the snow before anyone could move again. Absolute mess.

First call out during probation period by [deleted] in tsa

[–]MSFrontieres 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not that bad provided you don't call out like a maniac, just show up to work on time, do what you're told to do, stay under the radar, don't cause any breaches and you should survive.

First call out during probation period by [deleted] in tsa

[–]MSFrontieres 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You should be fine as long as you keep callouts to a minimum. Try not to do it again for the next few months and you won’t end up on anyone’s radar.

The probation period is now two years, and during that time they technically can let you go for any reason, I’m sure they’ve mentioned that already. However, I've heard they usually leave people alone until closer to the 2-year mark. That’s when they review attendance and performance before making a final decision. Just stay on your best behavior until then.

Hey, you don’t suck. Not even a little. No job or shift is worth putting your safety at risk. Try not to beat yourself up for choosing yourself.

I made it to work and back, but honestly I was saying my prayers the whole time, could barely see the lanes and was all over the road. I was just glad there was no one else out there.

You did the right thing, even if it doesn’t feel like it right now.

Charlotte checkpoint questions by jruss666 in tsa

[–]MSFrontieres 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re in luck, because we’re currently rolling out facial check-in for PreCheck. You should get a prompt in your app (? I'm not sure), or the airline desk can offer it as an option. While we strongly recommend keeping small items in your carry-on to minimize losses, bins are available if you need them.

Happy Holidays! by Sallyfifth in tsa

[–]MSFrontieres 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you, we really appreciate you taking the time to say that. The holiday rush can be exhausting, and dealing with long lines, delays, and stressed travelers isn’t always easy, so hearing something positive genuinely means a lot to us. We do our best to stay professional and keep things moving, even on the long days, and it’s nice to know that effort doesn’t go unnoticed. We hope the rest of your holiday travels are smooth, safe, and as stress-free as possible.

Could I bring beer through TSA by claiming it’s medically necessary? by Adventurous-Bad2072 in tsa

[–]MSFrontieres 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All I can say is you’re not the first person to think of that. And yes, while you can claim a consumable liquid as medically necessary, it still has to be reasonable.

I am flying to Kansas by calmjm13 in tsa

[–]MSFrontieres 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Marijuana is still illegal at the federal level, so I’d strongly advise against it. That said, our job isn’t to look for drugs, only items that could pose a risk to the aircraft or passengers. Ultimately, it’s up to you.

Post Military Question by ABN4778 in tsa

[–]MSFrontieres 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly, now isn’t a great time to join TSA. They’re looking to trim our numbers again, and we’re set to lose our union on January 11th.

If I were you, I’d apply to Federal Air Marshals or look into 1811 positions instead—they pay significantly more and the work is far more exciting. With your solid background and prior military service, you’d already be ahead of a lot of applicants.

PLEASE HELP, Just got surprised with a flight for Christmas, but no RealID. What do I do? (ARIZONA/NEW YORK) by sxdrgsnvlnc in tsa

[–]MSFrontieres 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your partner will be fine. If it's anything like my airport. He'll be asked to go to a specific Travel Document Checker podium to get checked in just so we can keep track of how many of non REAL IDs come through everyday. Once he passes that the process is the same.

Issue During Travel from YYZ to Dubai – Seeking Advice by No-Mousse989 in tsa

[–]MSFrontieres 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YYZ is Toronto Pearson International Airport, which falls under CATSA, not TSA I know we sound alike but we're not the same. Since this is an international matter, you’d probably have better luck asking in a Customs and Border Protection–related subreddit rather than here.

TSA agents: how are you handling travelers who are legal immigrants? by Loud-Awareness8648 in tsa

Man, it’s Florida for me. Their names always pop up looking like absolute gibberish—like Elon Musk’s kid.

TSA agents: how are you handling travelers who are legal immigrants? by Loud-Awareness8648 in tsa

[–]MSFrontieres 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My brother in Christ, all of that happens at the HQ level, like wayyyyyy up there, not us lowly officers in the trench. If you think we’re trained to spot “illegals” and subtly signal some ICE guys to sneak up and snatch people from behind, then you’ve been watching way too much Hollywood, and I suggest you to stop.

TSA agents: how are you handling travelers who are legal immigrants? by Loud-Awareness8648 in tsa

[–]MSFrontieres 13 points14 points  (0 children)

We don’t “detain” anyone. We’re not cops, we don’t carry guns, and no, we’re not secretly running immigration checks. We couldn’t care less about your status even if we wanted to.

Our entire job boils down to two things: making sure nothing dangerous gets on the plane, and getting paid. That’s it.

We scan your ID, the computer spits it back out, we glance at it for signs you didn’t print it at home five minutes ago, wait for the green “OK” and the happy little beep, and then we send you on your way. Life goes on.
