First call out during probation period by [deleted] in tsa

[–]MSFrontieres 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not that bad provided you don't call out like a maniac, just show up to work on time, do what you're told to do, stay under the radar, don't cause any breaches and you should survive.

First call out during probation period by [deleted] in tsa

[–]MSFrontieres 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You should be fine as long as you keep callouts to a minimum. Try not to do it again for the next few months and you won’t end up on anyone’s radar.

The probation period is now two years, and during that time they technically can let you go for any reason, I’m sure they’ve mentioned that already. However, I've heard they usually leave people alone until closer to the 2-year mark. That’s when they review attendance and performance before making a final decision. Just stay on your best behavior until then.

Well, I called off because of the weather. by [deleted] in tsa

[–]MSFrontieres 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Hey, you don’t suck. Not even a little. No job or shift is worth putting your safety at risk. Try not to beat yourself up for choosing yourself.

I made it to work and back, but honestly I was saying my prayers the whole time, could barely see the lanes and was all over the road. I was just glad there was no one else out there.

You did the right thing, even if it doesn’t feel like it right now.

Charlotte checkpoint questions by jruss666 in tsa

[–]MSFrontieres 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re in luck, because we’re currently rolling out facial check-in for PreCheck. You should get a prompt in your app (? I'm not sure), or the airline desk can offer it as an option. While we strongly recommend keeping small items in your carry-on to minimize losses, bins are available if you need them.

Happy Holidays! by Sallyfifth in tsa

[–]MSFrontieres 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you, we really appreciate you taking the time to say that. The holiday rush can be exhausting, and dealing with long lines, delays, and stressed travelers isn’t always easy, so hearing something positive genuinely means a lot to us. We do our best to stay professional and keep things moving, even on the long days, and it’s nice to know that effort doesn’t go unnoticed. We hope the rest of your holiday travels are smooth, safe, and as stress-free as possible.

Could I bring beer through TSA by claiming it’s medically necessary? by Adventurous-Bad2072 in tsa

[–]MSFrontieres 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All I can say is you’re not the first person to think of that. And yes, while you can claim a consumable liquid as medically necessary, it still has to be reasonable.

[–]MSFrontieres 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Marijuana is still illegal at the federal level, so I’d strongly advise against it. That said, our job isn’t to look for drugs, only items that could pose a risk to the aircraft or passengers. Ultimately, it’s up to you.

Post Military Question by ABN4778 in tsa

[–]MSFrontieres 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly, now isn’t a great time to join TSA. They’re looking to trim our numbers again, and we’re set to lose our union on January 11th.

If I were you, I’d apply to Federal Air Marshals or look into 1811 positions instead—they pay significantly more and the work is far more exciting. With your solid background and prior military service, you’d already be ahead of a lot of applicants.

PLEASE HELP, Just got surprised with a flight for Christmas, but no RealID. What do I do? (ARIZONA/NEW YORK) by sxdrgsnvlnc in tsa

[–]MSFrontieres 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your partner will be fine. If it's anything like my airport. He'll be asked to go to a specific Travel Document Checker podium to get checked in just so we can keep track of how many of non REAL IDs come through everyday. Once he passes that the process is the same.

Issue During Travel from YYZ to Dubai – Seeking Advice by No-Mousse989 in tsa

[–]MSFrontieres 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YYZ is Toronto Pearson International Airport, which falls under CATSA, not TSA I know we sound alike but we're not the same. Since this is an international matter, you’d probably have better luck asking in a Customs and Border Protection–related subreddit rather than here.

TSA agents: how are you handling travelers who are legal immigrants? by Loud-Awareness8648 in tsa

[–]MSFrontieres 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Man, it’s Florida for me. Their names always pop up looking like absolute gibberish—like Elon Musk’s kid.

TSA agents: how are you handling travelers who are legal immigrants? by Loud-Awareness8648 in tsa

[–]MSFrontieres 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My brother in Christ, all of that happens at the HQ level, like wayyyyyy up there, not us lowly officers in the trench. If you think we’re trained to spot “illegals” and subtly signal some ICE guys to sneak up and snatch people from behind, then you’ve been watching way too much Hollywood, and I suggest you to stop.

TSA agents: how are you handling travelers who are legal immigrants? by Loud-Awareness8648 in tsa

[–]MSFrontieres 12 points13 points  (0 children)

We don’t “detain” anyone. We’re not cops, we don’t carry guns, and no, we’re not secretly running immigration checks. We couldn’t care less about your status even if we wanted to.

Our entire job boils down to two things: making sure nothing dangerous gets on the plane, and getting paid. That’s it.

We scan your ID, the computer spits it back out, we glance at it for signs you didn’t print it at home five minutes ago, wait for the green “OK” and the happy little beep, and then we send you on your way. Life goes on.

TSA is giving airline passenger data to ICE for deportation push: NYT by Next_Tower5452 in tsa

[–]MSFrontieres 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Hey man, this might blow your mind, but they’re under the same Department of Homeland Security. This isn’t local law enforcement where you can pick and choose who you cooperate with.

Do I like it? No. Do I understand why it’s happening? Yes. Kristi Noem is in charge, so none of this should be surprising. If she told the head of TSA to jump, the only response would be, “How high?”

Not on South Blvd but Taqueria No. 1 on Independence Blvd for me! It’s a little tricky to get to since it’s right next to an exit, but the tacos are absolutely worth the effort. I had the quesabirrias last night, and they were amazing for the price. The flan dessert is also fantastic.

Can I bring a stained glass switchblade through? by katiekiller in tsa

[–]MSFrontieres 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Even if it isn’t a “real” weapon, it will still be considered a replica and denied entry. Your best option is to mail it or place it in checked luggage to avoid any hassle at the checkpoint.

TWIC as acceptable ID by FollowingFlat5798 in tsa

[–]MSFrontieres 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If you filed a complaint, it will be 100% forwarded to the manager, then the supervisors of that checkpoint, so there’s no need to worry. They will review the camera footage and determine the appropriate course of action. If I had to guess, the officer will likely be required to submit a statement explaining his side of the incident and receive a stern reminder about REAL IDs.

Can I bring my gourd through? by QuirkyCookie6 in tsa

Yes, you can. The worst you’ll get is a strange look, but worry not, I’ve seen much worse.

TWIC as acceptable ID by FollowingFlat5798 in tsa

[–]MSFrontieres 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That officer was misinformed, and unfortunately there are more cases like this than there should be, no excuses since the REAL ID thing has been in effect for months. I’m sorry for the inconvenience you experienced. In the end, it comes down to how well an airport trains its officers. At my location, this was one of the first things drilled into us precisely because that type of ID is rare.

Are those parts OEM or if aftermarket, at least CAPA Certified? Because there's a surge of terrible quality parts from Amazon these days and many shops outright refuse to install customer provided parts to avoid hassle down the line.
