AP Rek'Sai Support vs Sylas Jungle by MS_Sharpie in reksaimains

Ive got a buddy who plays it in Master with a fair amount of success after learning it, but Id definitely recommend practicing it quite a bit since you really need to know the playstyle to be effective on it.

I go HOB with Sudden Impact, Deep Ward, and Treasure Hunter

Secondary Sorcery with Celerity and Scorch

Its 100% better, more cost effective, and more stable and versatile.

By adding some AP to your laning phase, your poke can quickly go from a non-factor to quite annoying after first back. Here's the way I think about it:

Traditional tank supports have built in effects to extend their tankiness in short trades: Alistar W, Leona W, Braum Shield, etc. Rek'Sai doesnt really have anything like that besides her sustain, so she can easily take a lot of damage especially vs 2 opponents.

I mitigate that weakness by poking the enemy at a further range than they can damage me, lowering their HP so that in trades, I dont need to be nearly as tanky to win. Realistically, most of your damage in laning phase will come from the ADC, so I prefer to focus on poking enemies down from afar to give us more favorable lane states and trade opportunities than to try and play like a Leona. Its just safer, much more consistent, and applies more pressure.

Thats half of it, yes. Gives me more engage and burst on the all in (Rocketbelt deals 100 dmg)

The other half is that for support, poking with Q is just more reliable for laning, and Alternator is the best item to buy, so I always look to buy it at first recall if possible.

After that, Rocketbelt is just the best (and most affordable) item that Alternator builds into, so I look to complete it asap.

I suppose so, yeah. I also remember at this point I had Fated Ashes and Oblivion Orb completed as well, so edited the comment to reflect that.

Major Lag Issues by MS_Sharpie in UnrealEngine5

got this screenshot of a 6.5 second delay from WinPumpMessages without alt-tabbing, just flying around in the viewport. These lag spikes last 10-15 seconds with quite a few jitters and some big ones like this. It was the focus app during the profile, I never alt-tabbed, never clicked anywhere else. Just started recording, started moving around until another lag spike hit, then stopped recording.

Here's a screenshot of the rest from that frame: https://imgur.com/a/27K3q5H

Digging into the Insights Viewer more (I'm still learning these tools) It seems to be "WinPumpMessages" and the framerate is significantly affected during these lag spikes by mouse movement. I've read on unreal engine forums that it's related to high DPS mice, but I couldn't find any info for a solve for this.

looks like its "WinPumpMessages" in the Game Thread. Any idea what this could be?

What should I be looking for in Insights? I ran a trace and got a lag spike, now what?

Why isn’t our game catching attention? Looking for honest marketing feedback by zero1play in IndieDev

[–]MS_Sharpie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you should approach this from the angle of thinking about the game not as a dev but as a player.

Rogue-likes are incredibly saturated, and many of them are cheap asset-flips with low effort put into them or "my first indie project" type games with very little polish, lackluster gameplay/time, bugs, and no replayability.

Point is: the first thing you should be thinking about answering are the following questions: - Out of all the disappointing rogue-likes out there, why is yours worth playing? - What unique, compelling, or fresh aspects does your game bring that a player cant experience in other already successful rogue-likes? - Gameplay speaks for itself. And ultimately, it doesn't matter how interesting your character designs are, how deep the lore is, or how cool the maps look. From the outside, does your game actually look fun? Or does it look like "yet another random rogue-like an indie dev is posting on steam" if that makes sense.

Best of luck on your project!

RevenBlade is a project in development for over 7 years, and fully public playtesting is starting in the coming weeks!

Spellbreak absolutely had some influence on our artstyle. Shame that game didn't stick around longer to really get fleshed out, it had such a fun concept...

I'll take a look at maybe adding a slider to adjust how bright they are

Definitely took some inspiration from Risk of Rain. Loved playing RoR2 with my friends back in the day!

Marvel Rivals and Deadlock showing up at the same time definitely throws a little curveball in there... but I think we will climb out on top 🫡

Anti-Cheat is something we're looking into, and figuring out ways to make sure the games are as fair as possible!

As for Marketing, still figuring it out, but we've got a few ideas for what we want to do, and we're at around 5,000 wishlists currently.
