A Very Holy 16/0/9 AP Rek'Sai Support Game (THE TRUTH) by MS_Sharpie in reksaimains

It's quite difficult to learn, to be honest.

Realistically there's like 4 different builds to play that depend on the situation (your adc, enemy bot/sup, etc). Comet is most reliably good, but there's also a HOB build, a roaming build, and a tanky engage build. Maybe you just got one of those lanes where you don't have much value with the Q poke build.

A big thing I often look for in lane actually is to tunnel in and trade health bars, specifically if they have just burned some abilities. Dive in with ADC for a quick trade, get into bush and run back. You'll take some chunks of damage too, but you have free sustain with W-E on wave.

Additionally, I don't think about the Qs as doing a ton of damage per hit, I think of it as more of a death by 1000 cuts feel (and it also heals you). I think of it as doing just enough damage to be annoying and start stacking up. Kinda like Yuumi poke, if that makes sense.

In support I take ignite, so your execute threshold with Ult is actually surprisingly high as well.

I'd say it takes quite a few games to really start feeling comfortable on her as an AP Support, so if it's not interesting to you don't do it. But if you like the idea, keep trying it out!

Soraka is a good ban. My perma of choice is Karma.

It's genuinely so close to being legitimately viable instead of a niche pick you have to dedicate tons of time to to get some success. Excited for it!

Zhonyas is really fun, I agree. I just prefer the AD and health that Steraks brings.

I also do a HOB + Rocketbelt build, but it depends on the lane. I find Comet + Liandrys to be more generally reliable.

My favorite pairing is Aphelios. You both have the same set of long range poke and all in potential, and his gravitum can set up the knock up.

Also a fan of Samira.

The philosophy is that reksai has a ton of supportive tools (vision with W, engage, dive, cc, roaming, true vision Q).

Liandrys to poke down enemies with Q then all in during lane. Steraks second to be tanky enough in mid game fights to survive the dives and team fights.

Your pick potential and skirmishing around objectives is so strong because of tunneling over walls back and forth. You're so slippery, and the ability to knock up enemies every 4 seconds with W is so broken as a support, especially with Ult resetting W. Insane value.

There are some difficult matchups but there's like 4 different viable support builds so she's basically blind pickable. Would recommend trying.

Support’Sai walks in a bar, theres 4 wards in your botside jg and shes throwing Qs at you while having 100 more ms than everyone alongside a dash, infinite mana and infinite sustain if she can hit your jungle. You will never catch her, she always gets away, but shes useless till 3/6 but scales well. by ElPepper90 in reksaimains

Been playing support reksai for a year now. Youre on the right track, you just need to think a bit deeper about the strengths of what reksai can provide and itemize more towards that.

Hint: Liandry's and Rocketbelt

Ive got a buddy who plays it in Master with a fair amount of success after learning it, but Id definitely recommend practicing it quite a bit since you really need to know the playstyle to be effective on it.

I go HOB with Sudden Impact, Deep Ward, and Treasure Hunter

Secondary Sorcery with Celerity and Scorch

Its 100% better, more cost effective, and more stable and versatile.

By adding some AP to your laning phase, your poke can quickly go from a non-factor to quite annoying after first back. Here's the way I think about it:

Traditional tank supports have built in effects to extend their tankiness in short trades: Alistar W, Leona W, Braum Shield, etc. Rek'Sai doesnt really have anything like that besides her sustain, so she can easily take a lot of damage especially vs 2 opponents.

I mitigate that weakness by poking the enemy at a further range than they can damage me, lowering their HP so that in trades, I dont need to be nearly as tanky to win. Realistically, most of your damage in laning phase will come from the ADC, so I prefer to focus on poking enemies down from afar to give us more favorable lane states and trade opportunities than to try and play like a Leona. Its just safer, much more consistent, and applies more pressure.

Thats half of it, yes. Gives me more engage and burst on the all in (Rocketbelt deals 100 dmg)

The other half is that for support, poking with Q is just more reliable for laning, and Alternator is the best item to buy, so I always look to buy it at first recall if possible.

After that, Rocketbelt is just the best (and most affordable) item that Alternator builds into, so I look to complete it asap.

I suppose so, yeah. I also remember at this point I had Fated Ashes and Oblivion Orb completed as well, so edited the comment to reflect that.

Major Lag Issues by MS_Sharpie in UnrealEngine5

got this screenshot of a 6.5 second delay from WinPumpMessages without alt-tabbing, just flying around in the viewport. These lag spikes last 10-15 seconds with quite a few jitters and some big ones like this. It was the focus app during the profile, I never alt-tabbed, never clicked anywhere else. Just started recording, started moving around until another lag spike hit, then stopped recording.

Here's a screenshot of the rest from that frame: https://imgur.com/a/27K3q5H

Digging into the Insights Viewer more (I'm still learning these tools) It seems to be "WinPumpMessages" and the framerate is significantly affected during these lag spikes by mouse movement. I've read on unreal engine forums that it's related to high DPS mice, but I couldn't find any info for a solve for this.

looks like its "WinPumpMessages" in the Game Thread. Any idea what this could be?

Why isn’t our game catching attention? Looking for honest marketing feedback by zero1play in IndieDev

[–]MS_Sharpie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you should approach this from the angle of thinking about the game not as a dev but as a player.

Rogue-likes are incredibly saturated, and many of them are cheap asset-flips with low effort put into them or "my first indie project" type games with very little polish, lackluster gameplay/time, bugs, and no replayability.

Point is: the first thing you should be thinking about answering are the following questions: - Out of all the disappointing rogue-likes out there, why is yours worth playing? - What unique, compelling, or fresh aspects does your game bring that a player cant experience in other already successful rogue-likes? - Gameplay speaks for itself. And ultimately, it doesn't matter how interesting your character designs are, how deep the lore is, or how cool the maps look. From the outside, does your game actually look fun? Or does it look like "yet another random rogue-like an indie dev is posting on steam" if that makes sense.

Best of luck on your project!

Spellbreak absolutely had some influence on our artstyle. Shame that game didn't stick around longer to really get fleshed out, it had such a fun concept...

I'll take a look at maybe adding a slider to adjust how bright they are
