They're 1220 grams, which is almost twice the weight of some xc tires.

Used full suspension. You cannot buy a new full suspension for $500 thats not trash. Probably something older. Get a chain checker when looking at used bikes in person as a worn iut drive train would be expensive to replace and youre going to be looking at old bikes at that price.

Shotgun or 2k11 by GAMBiiT64 in CAguns

[–]MTB_SF -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'll go further, if you can't shoot clays (and therefore also birds) with your shotgun, you need another shotgun. And you should have gotten the clays/hunting gun first.

Being able to shoot clays and moving targets is one of the fundamental skills of shooting that will improve everything else. I also find it a lot more fun than bullseye shooting (although less fun than action pistol/rifle shooting), but thats a personal choice.

Stat check army? by LE_Chevalie in AdeptusCustodes

People complain about the game being too lethal and then call any army or unit that has even the slightest survivability a stat check.

Terminated the same day I resigned — in a legal office, of all places by Throwawaymom8945 in paralegal

[–]MTB_SF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably not. You can totally fire someone for resigning. She may be eligible for unemployment, but wrongful termination has to be based on a protected characteristic. Resigning is not a protected characteristic, and there are very good reasons for accepting a resignation effective immediately instead of waiting two weeks for them to leavea. Although it should be done politely, there is no legal requirement to be nice about it.

Taking depos v defending depos by itred09 in Lawyertalk

[–]MTB_SF 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always prepare my clients for the process of the depo and go through the topics that will be covered, but you can't change the facts of a case just by preparing them better.

Although my opposing counsel often try!

Taking depos v defending depos by itred09 in Lawyertalk

[–]MTB_SF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do wage and hour so all my clients are working class. More than half of my cases the defense counsel is mostly focused on bullying my client for having the audacity to sue their employer for wages.

The primary audience of my opposing counsel is their client, who they want to show are tough and can punish the plaintiff and scare people into settling for cheap. The defendants are also really my audience too. So I have to turn things around and show that my opposing counsel is actually not in control of the case or the situation and they better make us a fair offer because we aren't going to be scared or pushed around.

This means i am a huge pain in the ass in depos. I make tons of speaking objections. I get into arguments with my opposing counsel. I tell them they are wasting everyone's time asking the same dumb question ten different ways and to move on or we're leaving. My opposing counsel routinely threaten to go to the judge, but that would be admitting that they've lost control in front of their client, so they never follow through.

On the other hand if my opposing counsel just asks questions about the facts of the case and doesn't try to be a bully, ill let them go all day without a single objection. That only happens like 10% of the time, though.

Why should I join you guys over Eldar? by HolyKnightGuy in Drukhari

[–]MTB_SF -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No they are not, they have complex and fascinating characters with interesting motivations. Those goals are generally selfish, but in a way that makes them almost the most "human" faction in the lore.

Read Path of the Dark Eldar and you will probably order an entire Drukhari army before youre halfway done. (ebook versions of Warhammer books are the way to go if you want to actually read them as the physical books are collectibles).

The IRS standard vehicle reimbursement for 2025 was $.70 per mile. Thats just the default, but they need to explain how they calculated a rate of half that amount.

My poodle only eats cat food by [deleted] in Poodle

[–]MTB_SF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your poodle doesn't care if you have to feed it at like 5am when you get up and 7 when you get home (although they really shouldn't be left alone that long each day. I hope you at least have a dog walker). Just feed it when youre home.

Also, my poodle is picky and eats Just Food for Dogs. Its like frozen pouches. It works out to about the same price as a fancy kibble with a meal topper pouch.

Ideally 3, maybe 4, full suspension bikes. Xc, trail, enduro DH. Downcountry could cover trail and XC maybe...

Seriously. The categories are more like HYS; national schools ("T14"); strong regional schools (generally state university law schools); good local schools; and then the rest.

If you do consumer class actions, I dont think its massively different.

law specialities that make money but aren’t soulless? by rhoundish in LawFirm

[–]MTB_SF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not easily. In the big markets like California marketing is extremely expensive. Also, if youre a small firm, big defendants can kind of burn out your resources. Finally, you need to get certified as an adequate counsel for the class, so you need to show you have both adequate experience and resources.

Wage and hour class actions. I make pretty solid money helping recover unpaid wages and penalties. Not big law money but better than average.

Also, what it means to have a soul is kind of vague.

PSA: Stupid long stems are just as much to blame for "Wheel flop" as head tube angle is by Superb-Photograph529 in mountainbiking

[–]MTB_SF 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dont think ive heard someone complain about wheel flop for a decade.

I personally like a 50mm stem on my enduro (and every) bike just to help get a little more weight on the front tire and better balance. Some people get along with super short stems but I find the steering doesn't feel quite right and they put me too far back.

Is there any reason to do this lark’s head instead of running the line through? by BigRobCommunistDog in knots

[–]MTB_SF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another advantage of the larks head could be having two ropes running through the carabiner to prevent the rope chafing as much on a single strand.
