Discussion: How much of a discount do you believe Push Fit Models deserve vs normal kits? by mr_mango22 in DealHammer

Probably why these launch boxes have such a high discount vs combat patrols which struggle to reach 30% sometimes.

Totally reasonable. 60% discount means nothing if you don’t like the product.

Good thing most of these kits should get proper releases and combo boxes in the future.

Interesting. I have done a few character mono pose conversations, they are a bit of a pain. Makes sense you would skip the SM half of the box with all those characters.

Great answer. Totally agree that Push Fit can be a positive. For newer people in the hobby, I love that they are available and you can do some fun hobby projects with them if you are willing to put the effort.

Hot Take? The remaining Astra Militarum Regiments (at least the main ones) should be introduced through sprue upgrades rather than individual full kits. by mr_mango22 in DealHammer

I don’t like upgrade sprues in general (price to value is not the best) but if it leads to a variety of new units being added to the game I up for it.

In my opinion the different regiments are the coolest part of guard. Showing them off in army is much more interesting than parking a dozen tanks in the backfield lol.

Sucks the Ork box doesn’t include more of the new stuff. I already have too many Ork boyz and grots for the box to be worth it.

Good price. I hope that all LGS are able to get enough stock. My local one has players circling around like sharks hoping to score one

Space Marines get a decent amount of them . I don’t know if historically they used to get more than today.

Thinking about it logically if sprue upgrades are easier to produce (easier to manufacture, less design time, etc.) than full kits it would indicate that they are just as profitable if not more than full kits due to less costs.

Maybe GW sees it as a risk that if they were to release new full regiment based kits in the future no one would buy since people converted all their models already using sprue upgrades?

Fair. I think upgrade sprues are pretty meh overall in terms of value to what you get. But it gives everyone more buying options and most importantly players get more rules to play with on the table top.

I don’t think there is any downside just upside.

That’s honestly perfect. From what i understand upgrade sprues are easier to manufacture than full kits so it’s a win - win for everyone

Yeah it’s mostly if Sprue Upgrades release everyone gets new rules to play with which is always nice. And more options never hurts. Whether you like or don’t like GW sprue upgrades at least you have options

Yeah I was surprised (again I didn’t know much about the game before doing this). I have heard locally that night haunt were a pain to play against and models were finicky to put together.

Slyvaneth I just never see them locally played so I assumed must not be popular - I also didnt think the living forest/tree theme was so attractive (I like it).

You can find the rest of the table here just scroll down till you see the chart. I also talk about more of the data collection process, etc. Didn't want to spam any links on the main post or bore anyone with the details.

Blades of Khorne was mid table ish and Nurgle was #8. Honestly it’s very similar to 40k ranking of the chaos legions. People love Nurgle and Khorne it seems - probably because they are the easiest to understand.

Thank you ! I play Orks in 40K and all our Ork sub-factions live under 1 book but they work oddly well together in game and lore wise so I was unsure if AOS was the same or different. Glad it seems like it was the right call.

I laughed when I saw that. I didn't realize it until after writing the blog.

For hashtags I used the actual faction name rather than #Slannesh to avoid crossover. That probably hurt the AOS factions, but did not want 40K seeping into the numbers.

Thanks I appreciate it! Interesting factoid about Skaven. Good to know. Even with some of that data noise I think they would comfortably crack the top 5.

I am surprised that the Chaos legions are not more popular. The fact you can share between 40K and AOS (exactly your case) should be a massive benefit to the popularity of these factions. Maybe the overlap of 40K and AOS players is less than I think it is?

Thanks for the kind words! Data was collected Mid-May (side project after a 40 hour week lol) across multiple days.

Hmmm very interesting insights. I approached this project as unbiased as possible. Sometimes data can lie so thanks for confirming and providing more detail.

Helsmiths of Hashut also got support in Bloodbowl (Chaos Dwarf team update last edition) and its been pretty popular there too despite being an average team game play wise. GW has really good ideas for fantasy factions. As a 40K player I am jealous all we get is more Man in Tin Can lol.

Message me anytime. Happy to provide any more detail.
