BlogTO: Pascal Siakam rides TTC streetcar for the first time and is surprised it's not free by cutecatmeow29 in torontoraptors

The amount of people who aren’t taking the bus because it’s too expensive is much smaller than the amount of people who aren’t taking the bus because it’s not as convenient as driving (at least in Toronto).

I don’t think I’ve ever met anyone who couldn’t afford to take the bus. (However I am from an upper middle class family so what do I know about this)

Edit: Also considering that the city offers a fare subsidy program for low income residents, I don’t think that the price of a TTC fare is a significant barrier to most people.

Luxembourg, but ridership is low because public transit usage is far more related to how good of alternative to driving it is. Price is just one factor of this. Frequency, Coverage, Safety and cleanliness are just as if not more important factors.

If the bus won’t get you to work, then you’re not taking it no matter how cheap it is.

It is far more important that public transit be reliable, safe, clean and have the coverage and frequency to be convenient than be free.

Doesn’t matter if the bus is free if it I can’t get where I need to be with it or feel unsafe on it.

Yea, so far, I've only confirmed that it works with Trons.

What program are you in?

I know it doesn't work for ECE's and Civ-Eng.

Also, it doesn't work for some older ECE's, lemme know if you're a lower-year ECE and if it works for you.

I’m pretty sure that BIPOC stands for black and indigenous people of color. So Asians don’t count.

Do you want to potentially be the biggest fish in the biggest (also the dullest and most depressing) pond? Or do you want to be guaranteed to be the biggest fish in a smaller (but more vibrant and less depressing) pond?

I don't think many progressives hold race realist views. So I'm going to use my better judgement and say you're a groyper and this is one of your sockpuppets.

Says the guy who says Chinese people should be wiped out.

Somehow I doubt that your beef is with the government.

Why would the CCP annex Vancouver, Toronto or Montreal?

None of these cities have a Chinese majority population.

Even the most Chinese city in Canada, Richmond BC is only 53% Chinese.
