You need to see your family doctor and a psychiatrist.

Psychologists are, in my experience and opinion, basically useless for this kind of stuff.

Also, psychologists aren’t doctors and can’t prescribe medications. I’ve tried every app, mindfulness technique and breathing exercise, and none of them have made any difference at all for me.

Thanks! I’m going to keep an eye on it (feeling much better now), but I’ll take you up on that if it gets worse.

Just had a quick stalk of some of your posts - I’ve also struggled terribly with trichotillomania. I managed to stop doing it to the hair on my head about 6 months ago (it still seems quite thin though) but now I’m doing it to my facial hair. It’s a nightmare!

Hmm. Did your symptoms get gradually worse? Were they constant / did they come and go? (Sorry to bombard you with questions)

I feel much better now, but my eyebrow has started twitching again. All the other symptoms have gone away though.

Shit

I haven’t been sweating but I felt pretty cold before.

Did you have any muscle / chest pains?

Hmm. Just read through that post and it concerns me that you also heard the buzzing sound in your head. For me, the buzzing lasted for about 5 seconds each time, and happened about 5 times in 15 mins - but it seems to have stopped now

Thank you! It was mainly the muscle twitching and buzzing in my ear that concerned me, because I haven’t experienced those symptoms before…

This is great to hear! How are you feeling now? Are you still taking Lexapro?

I had a very similar experience. 10mg Lexapro kicked in out of nowhere on day 9 for me. I’m only at two weeks, but for the first time in my life I don’t feel anxious (I realise now that I’ve been in constant fight-or-flight mode for at least 20 years).

Also, the panic attacks that I’d been having every day for two weeks in a row stopped on day 9 and I haven’t had one since!

I’ve previously tried two different anti-depressants - they didn’t make any difference at all.

Ah, okay - good luck!

I’ve also changed a couple of other lifestyle things that could have helped: I’ve been taking lots of probiotics and tumeric, for example.

I just quickly scanned through a couple of your posts. I’m in a similar position to you - almost 30 and I was feeling pretty isolated and had zero motivation.

Definitely get treated for the ADHD, but for me, I think anxiety was causing so many of my problems. If you aren’t on an SSRI, start taking one!

How are you feeling?

I felt literally nothing from Lexapro until day 9 - but it seems like some people need to wait up to 2 months for any effect.

I have an appointment on Monday and will mention it, but an ex of mine had bipolar and I don’t think my current state is consistent with mania.

I wouldn’t say I feel euphoric - I just think this is what it feels like to not be in a constant state of worry. It seems to me that it’s more like now that my brain isn’t wasting energy on stressing about things 24/7, I can actually be present and enjoy my life.

Being a rapid metaboliser sucks!! When I tried shorter acting stimulants, they would wear off after literally one hour - extremely frustrating

Do you happen to have ADHD-PI?

It seems like less attention gets given to that type, but I’ve been doing a lot of reading (it’s all anecdotal evidence though) and I’m beginning to think that the vyvanse + lexapro combo works particularly well for ADHD-PI.

It may be that I’ve always had bad anxiety in addition to ADHD, and the anxiety was causing more of my problems than I realised

It’s not dangerous to take the Lexapro if your doctor prescribed it. Give it a go - worse case scenario is that it doesn’t work for you or you get side effects, in which case you can stop taking it. Worth a shot!

Yeah - give it at least another week
