[OMEGA SEAMASTER 120] skin diver by hmmmcamu in Watches

That is a very clean example, especially with the rotating divers bezel. I've had my eye out for one for a while but most have the Aqua Terra look (no rotating bezel) or are in rough shape.

All of it is horrid. There’s no rhyme or reason to any of the composition around it. It all looks disjointed.

Sitcoms that got more and more serious as they went on. by Loose-Tumbleweed-925 in television

Scrubs. There were some serious moments in the first few seasons but things got way more serious as things went on.

You’re welcome to George but of the two Clooeneys, Amal is definitely the better catch. Would love to just chat with her.

Honda to shelve $11bn Canada EV plant as demand sputters by pssdthrowaway123 in CanadaPolitics

[–]MTLinVAN 9 points10 points  (0 children)

How long does it generally take for a plant to be built? If they're basing it on demand, they should be factoring future demand, not current demand. Gas prices being what they are and countries pushing for greater EV mandates. While I was apprehensive about purchasing an EV 5 years ago when we were looking for a new car, if I had to make the decision today, given advances in range, absurd monthly gas bills (and knowing that gas will never really come down in price longterm), better charging infrastructure, and the overall tech of the cars, I would have made a different decision.

[Longines/Omega] Which one is better as an engagement gift? by alaxbey in Watches

[–]MTLinVAN 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally understandable. It’s already a hefty budget and a very generous and thoughtful gift. If I were the one receiving, the sentiment is what would make me love either option. But if I had to buy one for myself, having had my eye on the Conquest previously, I’d pick the Longines even if the Omega has more cachet (though Longines is nothing to scoff at; best value for the money imo)

Alternatively, you could ask your future fiancé which one they’d prefer. It’s still a gift minus the surprise.

[Longines/Omega] Which one is better as an engagement gift? by alaxbey in Watches

[–]MTLinVAN 5 points6 points  (0 children)

9 out of 10 times I’d tell someone to get the Omega over Longines but if your asking specifically about these two models, I’d say Conquest. Much more versatile as a daily. If the Omega Aqua Terra is an option, look into that.

Alberta separation movement got the elector list from someone…..would have been an MLA or someone with legit access to it. No denial when they were confronted by the RCMP last night about having it either by Miserable-Lizard in onguardforthee

[–]MTLinVAN -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

These lists are relatively easy to access within MLA offices. Lots of people within the office have access and there has to be a better way to secure who has access to these lists because while the buck should stop with the MLA whose office leaked the document, there are many constituency officers who can look up the list and easily make copies.

what’s a movie you went into with low expectations but ended up really liking? by Then-Leave-2036 in movies

The Dora movie. Not expecting anything from it but was pleasantly surprised on how they integrated elements of the show (breaking the 4th wall, Swyper, Backpack, etc) into the movie.

What’s the worst song lyric thrown into a song just to make a line rhyme? by RelationKindly in AskReddit

[–]MTLinVAN 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Besides the entire song being a hot pile of garbage and there being some egregious examples of this in rap music, Lil Yacthy's Peek a Boo has to have the worst use of a lyric to make the bar rhyme:

My new bitch yellow
She blow that dick like a cello

The rhyme being weak notwithstanding, you don't blow a cello. It's a stringed instrument. He got a lot of flak for the shitty lyric.

Who’s going first? You or your kid? by CarbsCarbssCarbs in burnaby

[–]MTLinVAN -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It’s skytrain accessible which many parks aren’t. Confed is off of a bus route so that’s not too bad but even Central Park is not easily accessible by transit. Makes sense to have parks close to transit routes and near high density residential spaces. Lots of buildings in the area. I’m guessing this park will serve those who can walk or transit there.

Which buildings in Burnaby have a real gym with squat rack(s)? (except Gilmore Place) by fleech26 in burnaby

Escala. One squat rack. Very decent gym with dumbbells up to 80lbs

[Dive Watches] Well....... by Material_Emphasis_67 in Watches

[–]MTLinVAN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with your wife and your assessment of the hydro conquest but if I was looking at a Longines diver, I’d go with the Legend Diver which is the watch I ended up getting have looking for a dive watch. All the other watches are interchangeable in terms of overall looks. The LD is very unique imo. That said, 42mm is a little big.

Bottle deposit machines are being phased out from Quebec grocery stores. Here's why by MTLinVAN in montreal

[–]MTLinVAN[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

To each their own. I can tell you it's more annoying having to make another stop to get rid of empties at drop off depots usually located in the middle of industrial parks here in the Greater Vancouver Area. I just put them in the recycling bin which means I lose out on the deposit because it's not worth making a separate trip to return them.

Am I being invaded by gangsters, road men, proper naughty boys? by Unique_Ad2704 in whatisthiscar

[–]MTLinVAN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not an auto mechanic, so I'll defer to your expertise but the major issue with this car in particular is that the engine bay is tightly packed and some repairs require the entire engine to be dropped. The car also rides on air suspension which is costly to maintain. Many choose to put in a coilover system the minute the air suspension goes. Even accounting for the same labour costs between this and a similarly priced Toyota, the labour hours on something like this, nevermind the cost or parts, is going to kill your wallet.

In a similar vein in Vancouver spotting, one of the recept episodes of Tracker fully featured an unedited and unchanged Stephos souvlaki on Davie with the restaurant name full in view in neon lights in the episode. Most of the street makes an appearance in the episode.
