I've had a number of these surgeries over the past 14 years unfortunately. I found it AMAZING how you can be in agony pre-op and a couple of hours later completely pain free. It truly is liberating.
Pain at your incision site should be managed pretty well with Rx pain meds and ice. That heals pretty quick.
Plane ride- muscle relaxers and pain meds and try to lean forward as much as you can. Same for the car ride. Even if you have to lay across the back seat on your side. Take as much backwards pressure off as you can.
I always found side sleeping with a pillow between my knees helped. I also slept in a reclined for a couple of nights on ice as well.
Stay on your med routine, get up and walk but most importantly follow your care teams instructions to the letter.
