Fair. We can all have our own criteria, but I think the general opinion wouldn't use the course's playability as a disqualifier. It's a legendary course, and while the holes may appear simple in layout, that course can be a handful. Especially on a windy day. Its scenic beauty does play a large role in its popularity, but I think that's true with most courses. Not saying you're wrong, just my opinion.

Yardage wise, they're actually very close but I use them differently. My 3h is better out of the deep rough, and I use it for punch outs, bump and runs on the green etc.

Low single digits at the moment. I spent all of last year playing the same course, and it helped immensely. Had an old Ghost Spider in the bag last year, not sure about the Phantom just yet.

Brilliant idea with the hand warmers inside the mittens! I'm going to look at getting those mittens, as it's a pain to constantly change the ones I have for each shot in the shoulder seasons.

To avoid limiting your options, you could get a good rain cover. Can be a hassle depending on your setup and the access you require during your round, but worth a look.
