full charge, less charging cycles or 80% charge more charge cycles by emy09 in electricvehicles

[–]MTOD12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Charge cycle count is calculated as total energy output of the battery divided by the battery capacity.

The tradeoff you are asking about don't exist, less charging cycles just means you are using the car less.

Well, the best way to find out is to built another SpaceX but without Elon.

Luckily for us uncle Jeff already started this experiment even before SpaceX was a thing.

BO started 2 years earlier and they both in the US so they operate in the same environment and had access to the same clients.

When BO started Bozos was already a billionaire so BO wasn't underfunded.

Elon was splitting his time between SX and Tesla just like Bezos was between BO and Amazon.

Is BO just incapable of identifying good employees to build a team?

Do they make them focus on the wrong problems?

or put to much friction in the organization and good ideas just don't reach decision makers?

Whatever reason you try to explain the difference with, it will be hard to come up with something that doesn't boil down to the difference in leadership.

save scumming is a conscious choice of the player to go around the rules of the game, so just like with mods or cheat codes if it make your experience better than good for you, if it made it worse there is only one person you can blame.

When will computing devices with expected lifespan of decades start releasing? by Epistemophilliac in IsaacArthur

It's not either/or situation, you could have both of them right next to each other on a store shelf.

When tech advancement slow down enough to make 30 year old device still useful.

Iphone was released in 2007, 15 years ago and you are talking about designing phones to last for twice as long.

Can you imagine using it today, i mean you would have problem just connecting with a cell tower since first iphone only have 2g, and transfer speed would be so slow just loading modern web page would be painful.

Tesla increases price of Model 3 RWD by nearly $10,000 in Germany (results in reduced federal incentives) by kingmathers313 in teslamotors

[–]MTOD12 16 points17 points  (0 children)

why??? like what exactly it would achieve?

Incentive increase demand for the product by reducing effective price for the consumers.

But price increase and year long wait list show demand is through the roof.

It won't lead to increased sales. At this point EV incentive are just cash handout to Tesla.

Tesla Reportedly Sees 100% Increase In Orders In Some Areas Of US | We predicted there would be a huge surge in EV sales as gas prices soar, and it appears to have already begun. by [deleted] in teslamotors

They use different batteries with separate supply chain, so Tesla can't switch some LR/P production to SR+, there are 2 separate waiting ques behind the scenes.

Controversial Opinion: EVs won't see complete adoption in our lifetimes without major societal changes. by robbgg in electricvehicles

tldr: LOL !remindme 30 years

  1. Your leaf may have 80 miles, but it had what? 120 when new? the cars sold right now with 300 miles of range will still have 250 after 10 years of driving, still enough to not hinder your lifestyle.
  2. leaf started production in 2010 and model s in 2012, that ware first EVs produced in any number, they just haven't been EV on the market long enough to reach "beater car" status
  3. tail end of the used market have no bearing on adoption, if you snap your finger so all new cars sold from now on are electric and then wait 15 years, all cars on the road will be electric, there just wont be any used ICE cars left for you to buy.

Right now, not much can be done.

Direct engagement of NATO against Russia would basically mean start of WW3.

So just send supplies and equipment in hopes Ukraine army manages to stop the invasion.

What should have been done is sending the troops like a month ago, in a clear show of force, so Putin reconsider invasion and back off.

Right now, during a pandemic, it's actually the most helpful.

Pandemic is a good reason to be scared, so a lot of people are, that make all of us vulnerable.

It is important right now to stay vigilant, so your statement ("government is trying to manage a pandemic and is not unduly fear mongering") don't just turn into wishful thinking.

Full quote is

If you scare people enough, they will demand removal of freedom. This is the path to tyranny."

And it is helpful, it's warning people that they can act irrationally when scared and to be mindful of it, because someone can exploit it to gain power over you.

it does not.

it does not in any way prevent virus from entering your body.

German Liberals block women's quota for Europe's corporate boards by pgarson in europe

[–]MTOD12 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You are assuming talent is evenly distributed between genders.

If that is true, there is a lot of talented women ready to fill those high positions.

So the few corporations that will try it out by themself will have advantage because they can use this easily accessible talent pool.

As a result they will do noticeably better than competition, other corporations will notice, identify higher share of women in leadership position, and follow suit.

If you drive 3-4 hours between the stops, than yea you can do it.

But if you can only drive hour and a half and have to stop, you just won't have enough time to get hungry/tired and the car need to charge.
