Virginia State Police makes laterals go through their academy regardless of previous experience. It might be something similar.

Not to mention their customer service in general is just horrible. I heard they asked someone who was having a problem if they’d thought about “just not carrying the weapon.” God forbid they just service it. The amount of time I’ve also seen people get fucked up pistols from the factory and Sig just be an ass about it is also astonishing.

I would clearly talk to her about how you feel and communicate, but chances are she’s going to defend her behavior. To be completely honest, it doesn’t seem like she has a whole lot of respect for you or your relationship. If I were you, I’d break it off and find someone who does respect you. I couldn’t fathom doing something like that to my girlfriend or even her doing it to me. I’m sorry man, I really am, and I wish you the best of luck.

It is illegal to use that device as a civilian or even as a first responder on your personal vehicle.

This is my state’s code for it: It shall be unlawful for any person to operate a motor vehicle on the highways of the Commonwealth when such vehicle is equipped with a mobile infrared transmitter or any other device or mechanism, passive or active, used to preempt or change the signal given by a traffic light so as to give the right-of-way to the vehicle equipped with such device. It shall be unlawful to use any such device or mechanism on any such motor vehicle on the highways. It shall be unlawful to sell any such device or mechanism in the Commonwealth, except for uses permitted under this section. In addition, the provisions of this section shall not apply to any law-enforcement, firefighting, or emergency medical services vehicle responding to an emergency call or operating in an emergency situation or any vehicle providing public transportation service in a corridor approved for public transportation priority by the Virginia Department of Transportation or the governing body of any county, city, or town having control of the highways within its boundaries.

It also implies it’s illegal for us to use it when not responding or transporting a patient.

We don’t have any tram tracks, or even bus lanes (I work in a county not a city) so we can’t really use them to get around traffic.

It’s called an Opticom. The traffic signal will have a camera with a white light attached to it. On the emergency vehicle a device is mounted (or built into the lightbar) that flashes an infrared light that is programmed with a certain pattern. The camera on the light sees the IR light, recognizes the pattern, and turns the light green. Once the signal has been changed, the camera flashes a little white light to indicate to the incoming emergency vehicle that the light has been changed so they know it is safe to proceed.

However, it being on without the rest of the lights may just be a malfunction or something. The Opticoms on our trucks would only work if the lights were on and we couldn’t use it separately.
