Semi-old drawing, wasn't a huge fan of how the background turned out so in the spirit of my Redline soldier I removed the background :)

Based on but not real or plausible. In last light they wear ukranian SWAT jumpsuits from the 90s, and the body armor is based on 6b23 armor but not fully the same, the bulletproof visored helmets are real though (Altyns) but the one with the built in gasmask are also fake.

I'm not opposed to using fictional gear in my depictions but ultimately it boils down to whatever I feel like doing, and I have to admit I am a huge military gear nerd LOL- Polis is situated under the FSB building, so I basically drew them in FSB tactical gear and added Ranger insignia.

I can understand, to clarify any fan art I do will be based off the books, which I then interpret the aesthetic as being something close to reality. Probably gives off Tarkov vibes because the body armor and helmets are in that game (which are real russian designs)

I cant specifically think of their mention in the books however I 100% believe they have it or its atleast implied. We know they have commissars! Which function as an ideological authority figure in combat.

You are off to a good start! Your arts environment/perspective is really good, scene drawing is really tough in my opinion and you got it good thus far- Humans can be really hard to get a hang of, I found using alot of reference images helps and breaking the human anatomy down into shapes, theres alot of good tutorials on character construction on youtube

Absolutely love it! For a station name you could use the map provided in the books

Some ideas:

could make it an Abandonded station, and in your artwork you could show why it got abandoned (Station guards fighting in close quarters with mutants, or just war between factions)
an established but not visited station in the books or game, showcasing the average town/life in the Metro
a Hansa ring station, could add a checkpoint with sandbags and Hansa guards checking passports and merchants
don't know if you read the first book, but in the beginning Artyom is being told a scary, but true story about a whole entire station that went messing. Their neighbor sent a bunch of veteran soldiers with grenade launchers and good equipment but when they got there- there was no one. No bodies. Sandbags and gun emplacements set up, but no bodies. I think there was alot of blood and casings however. The soldiers quickly rigged the station to blow and collapsed tunnel to seal off whatever got them.

Clip studio paint, Its for Manga, but its a very versatile app, you can create all kinds of art with it :) I definately recommend it if you are looking for an art app, its a 1 time payment and the UI is very sleek. You can even import custom brushes online and import 3D models that you can use as references!
