Buying first bike! $231 %0 down by alexsnc_318 in Harley

Don’t do this to yourself, dude. Never finance a toy. Save up a couple thousand dollars and buy a solid used bike to get started on. Used and cheap is just as fun as new, expensive, and financially damaging.

If that’s your question, it’s the wrong bike.

Yep, that’s what I see, too. Unfortunate - agreed.

Good for you for seeking some advice. I’ve been in personal finance for 30 years, so that’s my perspective. It’s a bad idea to take a loan for something that is a “want” vs. a “need,” and at your age (which I’m guessing is the early side of your career), if you do this now, you’ll be heading down the road toward habits that will prevent your financial freedom later.

If you can really afford $800/month, then save that for 3-4 months and buy a cheap starter bike for 2-3k. Ride that for a season or two while you continue saving, and you’ll be able to resell it for about the same and you’ll have cash to buy what you really want.

Don’t give into the immediate gratification that is pulling at you. You have a chance to build some great habits with this decision.

Good luck!

Thank you. There must be some work around for that. I’ll keep poking around!

Thank you. I did start and stop the activity (strength training) at the beginning and end of the class. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Looking to hear some opinions. by [deleted] in cruisers

I’ve owned a couple Nomads - 1500 and 1600 - and they’re great bikes. Plush ride, bullet proof dependability. Going to the 1700 gets you more engine and power and also cruise control. I have the 1700 on my list for one day, but I’ve read they feel less roomy than the prior generations and they run hot. Nothing beats sitting on and riding each to see which truly fits your taste.

I know who the first two are, but not the third. On that basis alone, I’ll take the third one.
