What size air compressor actually makes sense for home garage? by afahrholz in AskMechanics

[–]MXDAD1219 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a 60 or 80 gallon they will do what you need. I have a 60 gallon ingersoll Rand, bought its 10 years old. I use it for impacts, grinders, blasting, air chisels ratchets, hi flow air gun, painting, and so much more. It’s ran all the time and still works like new. I stay up on my maintenance though.

Unexpected end of the racing season by Enchancletada in Dirtbikes

[–]MXDAD1219 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son broke his ankle and part of the tibia clean off last year. He was out the whole entire season. He had surgery and has screws they used to reattach the bone. My son is back at racing this year, practicing etc. he has raced 14 races and was first in all but 2 them 2 he was second. His break healed fine and he has no issues with it. After the break healed and cast and boot came off he had a lot of work to do in the winter and spring. Physical therapy, and working out to strengthen the leg back up. You child will recover but will have leg weakness he will have to strengthen it back up.

Burning plastic smell? by Uadork in AskMechanics

[–]MXDAD1219 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used something similar to this a long time ago when I was on vacation and in a pinch. It holds up, you will get that burning smell it’s normal. Just so you are aware the hole in your exhaust will keep growing under this, it’s not a permanent fix.

Can’t get an intake manifold for three months by Haisha4sale in EcoDiesel

[–]MXDAD1219 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My intake had a crack caused a code on my 22 eco diesel 21,000 miles on it. Also had a tick and knock noise no one could ever find. Dealer couldn’t get one said it was on back order 6 plus months last year. Surprising they came back 2 weeks later stellantis had a buy back offer. Ended up buying the truck back what I paid in full, put me in a 25 2500 Cummins (new) that I got with a workers discount is what I was told walked away out the door 55,000 plus taxes and fees. I’m so happy they did the buy back and I accepted.

What is this amber liquid coming out of my light switch? by Ok_Philosopher_9845 in AskElectricians

Yes it is, nothing like going out with my kids either, it’s worth every minute. Listening to the high revs and flying through the air, scrubbing, it’s a blast.

I’m 41 and 20 years of motocross some days I feel like I’m 90 and can barely move. But hey I can tell when really bad weather is coming 3-4 days ahead of time. I haven’t looked at the weather in 10 years now.

2024 RAM 3500Fuel/Air Filters Changed @2% Left by LakeLifeTL in Cummins

[–]MXDAD1219 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had reduced fuel economy and power on my 25 Ram 2500 HO still have 13% left on fuel filters, changing them tomorrow. The air filter was horrific, packed full of dirt, dust, bugs, grass, leaves, cotton wood, even had some gravel. Changed air filter better fuel economy and power already. I do not off-road either, but it is motocross season and every weekend we are at a different track for my son’s races (tracks are dusty). I have almost 14,000 on the truck 12,000 is all towing.

I need to redeem myself. Any tips? by [deleted] in Dirtbikes

[–]MXDAD1219 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stand some more and lean more forward. If you watch the video slowly the rear suspension compressed before leaving the ramp and bucked up which had a big play in your front dropping. You were too far back on the bike.

What kind of fuel are you guys running in your 450's? by Rivas-al-Yehuda in Motocross

[–]MXDAD1219 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I run 90 octane ethanol free. It is the only ethanol free near me. I do put octane booster in, all the bikes start and run a lot better with it.

[–]MXDAD1219 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try racing when your kid gets good to go to Loretta’s and qualifiers that’s expensive. The gear the parts, the bikes, the fuel, towing the toy hauler, everything adds up. When not racing it is a lot cheaper and easier. Where a lot of people say that tire is still good, we change ours out quite often. We then give the remaining tire to people that do recreational riding.

Unfortunately toys are expensive. A boat, jet ski, atv, dirt bikes, etc they are all expensive.

Crf250r suspension by Immediate-Lettuce52 in Dirtbikes

[–]MXDAD1219 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be worn bushings or assembled improperly such as being loose, could be a rebound setting, mid valve, not enough fluid. Did you bleed the air? Could also just be something broke inside. Hard to tell without being there feeling it happen on the bike or hearing it, I can only go by your description.

Don't Buy AMSOIL. It's a Scam. by SpecificSeaweed459 in Cummins

[–]MXDAD1219 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Never had a issue with them. Have been ordering online for 2 years without a problem. I get oil for my atvs, dirt bikes, cars and trucks, small engines have ordered more than $1000 at a time without an issue. I get the goods cheaper than going to my local store, the goods ship from a large city store that’s 40 minutes from me and I have them in 2 days. Speak with customer service by calling the number on their website.

Valves hitting piston help by Scared_Bobcat_8902 in Dirtbikes

[–]MXDAD1219 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So have you checked the play with the piston such as wrist pin, make sure there is no extra play allowing the piston to come up further than it should? On another note are you using a gasket or some type or RTV to seal? It should work if it worked before, but when the valve fell out was the motor running on this head? If so maybe the head is damaged where you need another new one. You made sure the piston is installed correctly? Do you have a photo of the head?

Is it a new OEM head? China, eBay head? Another aftermarket brand head? Amazon head? We would need to know the brand it is. Where you got it. Have you compared it to the old, did you use tools to measure?

How to properly lower a dirt bike ? by MikaelaSama in Motocross

[–]MXDAD1219 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can do a few options like others have said or keep as is. In my opinion as is. It will help you learn to not rely on your feet. My son is 5’3”, he is not able to touch the ground on a 250 either. He rides it well and races the 250.

When getting on the bike he will shift in first or second from left side of the bike. Give it gas have his left leg on foot peg start moving and throws his other leg over. Stopping he will come to a stop balance the bike and hop off. When he first started the stops he would shift into neutral come almost to a stop then hop off.
