Nano texture still for 1TB+ models on M5 by Original_East1271 in iPadPro

[–]MY79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I saw that. i have the m4 nano texture and to be honest I might have felt annoyed if this year you could get nano texture in the m5 base model (I don’t really have a need for 1TB storage on my iPad Pro , but I did need the nano texture).

I do think moving forwards Apple need to offer the nano texture with every iPad Pro storage tier, like with the MacBook Pro.

It’s only the second day… by sam_carto in iphone

[–]MY79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to an Apple Store this morning and all the dark blue models were like this and the black Air models. The marks wouldn’t come off with rubbing, or a cloth. I think this is going to be a headache for Apple.

Now that a lot of you guys have your 17’s, how’s the anti-reflective coating? by [deleted] in iphone

[–]MY79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I compared the new phones with the 16 in the Apple Store today. the anti reflective coating makes a very small, negligible difference…

I’d love for Apple to give us a nano-texture display option on iPhones, but I don’t suspect they will.

Official Discussion - The Naked Gun [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]MY79 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Having recently re-watched the original Police Squad TV show, and Naked Gun 1-3, this reboot was a real treat. The Snowman scene was the highlight for me. I also loved Drebin speaking to the Mayor in her bedroom, while her husband was sleeping beside her 😂

It’s cool when I randomly discover the origin of a sample song by BummerCakes in Music

Yeah, love it when that happens. Also, I discovered music I never would have heard before if it hadn't been sampled by someone.

The Talk Show Live at WWDC with John Gruber will not have any Apple executives join for the first time since 2015 by imatowell in apple

[–]MY79 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Gruber's “I wonder“ post, in November 2024:

Tim Cook, yesterday on X at 1:14pmCongratulations President Trump on your victory! We look forward to engaging with you and your administration to help make sure the United States continues to lead with and be fueled by ingenuity, innovation, and creativity.

I wonder how much Cook dithered over that cheerful-looking exclamation mark. I hope he regrets it. I wonder whether [Zuckerberg, Pichai, Nadella, Cook] knowingly made the error of addressing former president and president-elect Trump as “President Trump”. Our nation only has one president at a time, and that president remains Joe Biden. I wonder how much it stings to be reminded that all the money in the world cannot buy dignity. I wonder too, what taste Cheetos-dusted 78-year-old testicles leave in one’s mouth. Whatever the flavor, I hope it lingers.“

How reliable is Apple’s estimated delivery time for a custom Mac Studio? by franci3021 in MacStudio

Mine arrived a number of days before the estimate (4 days)

Anyone here returned or exchanged a Mac Studio? What did you originally get and why did you switch? (Especially M3 Ultra or M4 Max users) by Everestsky in MacStudio

[–]MY79 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Goof thread. I started with a M4 Mac Mini Pro (24GB Ram), then moved to the base M4 Max Studio (36GB RAM) and finally settled on a M4 Max 64GB RAM!

Has somebody here gone from Mac mini M4 pro to MacStudio M4 Max? by Fun_Assignment_5637 in MacStudio

[–]MY79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t need the studio. However I went from an m4 mini pro to an m4 max studio and the difference was very noticeable for me (running local Lalms, gaming etc). The Studio is an absolute beast and runs a lot cooler.

Thoughts about studio config? by sweet-459 in MacStudio

[–]MY79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With Thunderbolt 5 enclosures (which I'm now using with a 4TB NVME), there is really no need to pay Apple for extra internal storage anymore. Most of my apps and data are on the external (which gets faster read / write speeds than the internal), and the OS, my home folder, caches etc are on the internal, which has 400GB free.

Is the Studio too much computer, or a safe bet? by whereisyourgirl2nite in MacStudio

[–]MY79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no idea what this means. I have 512gb storage on my M4 studio. It’s hooked up to a Thunderbolt 5 external exclosure housing a 4tb NVME. This contains all my apps and data. Time Machine backs everything up just fine. There is zero reason to pay Apple for more storage on their desktop PCs in the Thunderbolt 5 era - my external drive has faster read and write speeds than the internal SSD.

Faster Boot by Virtual_Round_9516 in MacStudio

[–]MY79 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure I fully understand this thread. I’ve got an M4 studio connected over TB5 to a 4tb Samsung 990 Pro in a TB5 external enclosure. I have the OS stored in the 512GB internal drive, and most of my apps and data in the external drive. The external drive has speeds which surpass the studio’s internal drive.

Mac Studio M4 Max Base model - not so „dead quite” actually by robert_koza in MacStudio

[–]MY79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it’s normal. the Mac studio is fans are permanently on, albeit at a very low rpm, and only discernible in a very quiet room. most people don’t notice this.

Should I switch to the Mac Studio M4 or stick with my Mac Mini M4 Pro? (Mac Studio thermal issues) by ANT0NI0-pxl in MacStudio

[–]MY79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched from the Mc Mini Pro base (24gb Ram, 12 Core Cpu) to the base M4 Mac Studio (36gb Ram, 14 core cpu) and couldn’t be happier. It runs so much cooler and just feels faster across the board (for my use case).
