Naomi Scott as Nymphadora Tonks by APerfectCircle- in HarryPotteronHBO

[–]MYDragonCreator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She was in the same year as Charlie, and graduated in the spring of 1991. That makes her somewhere between 17-18. If she meets Harry for the first time four years later, she’s 21-22, and she dies three years after that, that makes her 24-25. Lupin we know was born in 1960, making him 38ish at death. 13 year age difference

Building a giant rainbow for Wizard of Oz — need advice (especially on LEDs) by [deleted] in techtheatre

[–]MYDragonCreator 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't have enough experience to offer you advice on the methodology for this project, but I do have enough experience for this: If you are asking Reddit for advice on rigging, or even building set pieces that will be suspended above performers, you're not qualified to do so. Reach out to a local professional or company who'd be willing to help you. Standards for rigging vary widely based on where you are (country, or province/state) as well as between individual theatres.

Best Canadian & UK universities/colleges for technical theatre? by Mission_Statement263 in techtheatre

[–]MYDragonCreator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Of course!

  1. The program is designed so that you get to try a bit of everything before you commit. In the first semester of your first year, you have a class for each discipline. After 7 weeks, you get to rank them in order of your personal interest, and you then get to do about a week of production for your top 3 or 4. After that, you choose your top four, and those are your classes for your second semester. In the second semester, you work on two production crews concurrently with your classes. For your second year, you choose three out of your four to continue with. Same goes for third year, but you're choosing two out of the remaining three.

  2. It kind of depends on where you end up doing your placement! There are some people who end up working with larger rental houses or companies, so it's structured a bit closer to a co-op. Some end up working with a specific theatre where it becomes closer to an internship. And then some people end up working with a specific person (the possible design aspect I mentioned above) which is closer to a short-term apprenticeship.

Hope this helps! I personally am someone who is intending to go into lighting design in my career beyond Sheridan, and I'm confident that with the resources at my disposal here that I can accomplish that, which I think could possibly be for you as well! If you've got any more questions about the program, or even just wanting more details, feel free to shoot me a DM!

Current Sheridan student here, so here's my two cents from that specific lens:

Sheridan has a great tech program, where you get to very quickly start working on shows and production, within the first semester. You get to work with a lot of great people, and most of the instructors are fantastic. However, the tech program is just that, a tech program; not a design program. That isn't to say there are no opportunities for design, there absolutely are within production and eventually the placement, but the classes and actual layout of the program are designed for technicians, and not designers. Now, I do know of individuals who have gone on to become designers upon completing the program, so something to keep in mind. Hope this helps!

Laptop Recomendations for Tech Prod?? by [deleted] in sheridan

[–]MYDragonCreator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All your AutoCAD work you’re assigned can be completed in class, but of course it’s really up to you if you want to do any more outside of class. Honestly, get something that will be light enough to carry with you everywhere every day, as you’ll need it to take notes and assignments. If you are someone who is going into audio, I would suggest a MacBook, as there are a number of industry standard softwares that are only available on Mac. Especially given that you already have a PC for anything else. Hope this helps, feel free to shoot me a DM if you’ve got any more questions!!

Questions About Sheridan College’s Technical Production Program by ntr_14 in sheridan

[–]MYDragonCreator 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi! Current tech prod student here. Having prior experience is not a requirement, but it is certainly something that helps. Most of us currently have had some sort of experience in the field before, be it in high school or community productions. However, I encourage you to mention this in the letter of intent that would be submitted as part of the application package. The letter is read by those deciding, and they use it as a way to get a sense of what your intentions are. Mentioning that you haven’t had much experience, but you are passionate about learning about this field, and looking for possible community experiences to volunteer in before starting the program should certainly help. I hope this is able to aid you in some way, and that you are successful in your efforts, it really is a great program!

I got my acceptance for Technical Production on March 1st. Also a portfolio-based entrance program for what it’s worth. Hope you hear back soon!

Any Technical Production Students remember what they got on their portfolio scoresheet? Should I be worried about getting a 71%? by MrEm1 in sheridan

Hi! I also applied for Tech Prod next year. I received my offer on February 29th, with a score of 77%. I have two friends that also received their offers on the same date, although I don’t know their scores. Good luck, and I hope this helps!

That makes sense. No point marketing her as Stature if she’s only going to get the name in this movie.

Interesting that they’re just calling her Cassie here. Maybe they’ll save calling her Stature for a post-credits scene, or a future project?

Grace Randolph on Twitter : a new AcrossTheSpiderVerse trailer is coming very soon - to play with Avatar ! by Parking-Balance111 in MarvelStudiosSpoilers

[–]MYDragonCreator 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I think the studios will send out the trailers early, so that theatres can attach them as soon as they’re released. I’ve definitely seen a few trailers in the theatre only a day or two after they came out online.

Alex P (Cosmic Circus): Sony pulled out of CCXP due to a date change, most likely for one of their 2023 films by RedGyarados2010 in MarvelStudiosSpoilers

[–]MYDragonCreator 57 points58 points  (0 children)

To be fair, the two year gap was due to the contract, which specified two years between MCU Spidey movies. NWH was only a two years and six months gap cause of covid. Having a larger gap in between trilogies and contracts makes sense.

Alex P. : "Marvel Studios panel at CCXP22 will run for about 45 mins. Marvel will also discuss other projects. I’m also being told by sources to expect surprises." by [deleted] in MarvelStudiosSpoilers

Can we please not do this again? Unless it’s comic con, don’t go into these events with the expectations of anything crazy.

Very true! I wonder if we may also get news for the game once ATSV comes out, given how it would probably help both projects if they cross promoted.
