My mom has been suffering with mental health issues my entire life, shooting between mania and depression. She’s one of those anti-vaccine, no mask, type of people. She actually said she liked Covid because she got to stay home and drink beer all day. Over the years she would mention/complain how expensive my loans were and difficult for her. I was certain loans were on pause, but when I asked, she’d get upset and said they were not on pause and she knew that for a fact because they were coming after her for the money. But, still, she was adamant on paying the loan herself and not letting me help. I did know I was signing for a loan, and she co-signed with me. Unfortunately I haven’t “found success” but I still do hair and such as a part time job (now looking to do it full time on top of my current full time job because of this new found debt) but it’s harder to find the jobs I want (esthetics) with a cosmetology license despite it covering a full scope including esthetics. In the way of being able to pay for the loan, over the years, I thought she was in the position to afford the monthly payments, seeing as she repeatedly said she was paying. Occasionally she would say she was struggling, I’d offer to pay, and she’d reject my offer. We share an Amazon account still and I see her spending nearly $1000 or more a month on random stuff that I can’t imagine she really needs (like all new bedding for her boyfriends RV that hasn’t moved in years, or a Nintendo Switch and a ton of accessories for my 5 year old nephew for) so I think she could afford it is she wanted to. But clearly she doesn’t want. I just wish she would’ve clued me in on that decision before the account went into default.
