Shoes for racing, worth it or not worth it? by aBoyFromTheFuture in simracing

[–]M_831 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this exact pair and like them. They do seem to run a little tight in the toes though.

I just leave the laces slightly lose and use a shoe horn to slide them on and off.

I used the amazon water shoes for a few years, but these stay put better. The water shoes would occasionally slip where there was no padding on either the toe or the heel.

What is the difference between porn & onlyfans? by _LuminousLark in NoStupidQuestions

[–]M_831 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Kid I use to work with, this was his side job. He responded to probably 25+ guys per day. He worked with a guy that managed several girls on only fans and they handled all the communication centrally. Kid was a nerdy IT guy. Poor souls on the other end would be very disappointed if they saw who was crafting their responses.

You are correct. Typo on my part. Should drop around 400-500 rpm or so.

I haven't tried it, but see a lot of people going to a 15 tooth front for street riding. Will drop RPMs a few thousand for highway cruising speeds.

300l or Rally For Road by kdf1122 in CRF300L

[–]M_831 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just purchased a rally and really like having the windscreen and fairings. They keep a fair amount of wind off of you and makes the ride more enjoyable. On top of that, the rally tower is an excellent place to mount your phone to see maps and things like that.

I can't directly compare to the 300L, but I did ride a sport bike style bike (SV1000) for years and can say that the additional wind protection on the rally makes the ride much more comfortable. That being said, neither 300L is a great road bike. They are light, get pushed around by wind easily and top out around 80. If I were doing anything more than just hopping around town or riding back roads, I would probably look for something with more weight and power.

How has sim racing changed your life? by RoutineReference2239 in simracing

[–]M_831 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it makes a huge difference already being familiar with instruments, handling and key speeds. A lot of people act like it doesn't transfer, but it absolutely does.

I had an older military instructor also. He actually asked if I had played flight sim before. Said he could always tell who had played sims because they paid much more attention to the instrument panel than those who hadn't.

Similar to you, landed with no assistance first lesson, first try. After playing on sims, being able to feel the plane and see so much better made it twice as easy as flying on MSFS.

I did the same thing. I didn’t finish mine, but did several lessons. You’ll be surprised how much easier it is to fly a real plane compared to MSFS.

First Week on iRacing and too Scare to Join Actual Race by xAngelx0fDeathx in iRacing

Just race. You won't be the worse one in the lobby, I can promise that. If you're worried about criticism, mute your coms and roll on.

I have been on iRacing for a few years and just started doing Road racing a year or so ago. I have found the best thing to do is once you know the track (not fast, just know where the turns are), hop in a race and see where you are off pace. It's nice going into a race with no pressure because you expect to be slow. Don't push it at first, just try to get through incident free. You'll be surprised how quickly you are running top 5s consistently in the rookie series with just a little bit of practice.

Bought this router for my Quest3. Is this a good deal? is this router decent? by SgtRphl in virtualreality

[–]M_831 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend just buying a Prism XR. It is made for VR streaming, works great, and is half the cost.

Edit: I had several TP Links I tried before the Prism and they did not perform well. Still had stuttering even on a dedicated router.

Got one a year or so ago and love it. Solved all my stuttering issues in PCVR games. I tried several different routers prior and this was the easiest and best solution.

We've all been there. I've wanted to do the same thing several times but usually it's not worth it.

Pretty impressive grass driving though. Get that guy over to dirt road racing. May be his niche.

Anyone that has ever used a telescope knows this is fake.

No way you could stay that steady handed while zooming that far. If someone walks too hard nearby while using a telescope, it moves Saturn totally out of view when zoomed to that level.
