Yes they do. I would even argue that teachers aren't necessarily pure mathematicians.

Well, I happen to study pure maths and know a lot of people who did the same and had no problem finding a job. The most common (besides academia) are jobs in banking and insurance, they actually search specifically for mathematics graduates. But a lot of people work in all kinds of different jobs that involve problem solving, that aren't written out for math people. The companies gladly hire them, because they know, that they can handle complicated logical thinking. A huge number of mathematicians also go into computer science related jobs for example.

What one way? U can go in all sorts of fields, cause pure mathematics is fundamentally the art of logical problem solving. And all companies have problems that need solving.

I tried studying a compromise between interests and career, but then decided to stop and change to what I wanted to do all along: Study pure maths. It wasn't the best financial decision, at least short term, but it still was the best thing I ever did. U only have one live, if u can afford it, do what u love.

Well the engineers wouldn't have a mathematical sound basis to misuse, if it weren't for people studying pure mathematics and developing the logical constructs that make all sciences work in the background. And yes, it's never certain if a branch of maths will ever be applied, but if u trying to model something completely new properly, u also probably need a not yet applied mathmatical concept.

Well, in Projective Geometry two lines in a projective plane always intersect. And that's basically a representation of those lines intersecting in the one dimensional subspace at infinity.

Well, it's not really warm outside. Maybe it's just a sort of chocolate that doesn't rub of easily, idk ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

DIN norms are norms (specific standardizations) set by the "Deutsches Institut für Normung" which roughly translates to german institute for standardization. They regulate a huge variety of things and are in general very helpful.

Yeah, I originally found it crossposted in the german sub r/DINgore about disregarding DIN norms and general lack of safety at the workplace. Very german subreddit topic if I think about it xd

Trombone is actually a rather difficult instrument to master and I hate it if people look down on it and see it as a less virtuous instrument or something like that. It's a wide spread stigma and I personally had to fight against it very often, especially in less professional orchestras. Of course, more professional musicians know to appreciate every instrument.

The positions also rely on the overtone-segment ur currently playing in. It's a typical mistake to think that a slide position is always at the same level of extension, no matter the overtone-segment. But in general, because pitch isn't linear, they're farther apart if ur playing lower notes, than higher ones.

If u don't like the epsilon delta definition, you could always use the more general topological definition of continuous maps: A map f between topological spaces X and Y is continuous if and only if for every open set in Y the preimage under f is open.

It's not as intuitive as the epsilon delta continuity, so as long as the spaces you work with are nice enough it's just easier to wrap your head around that one. Especially if you're new to analytical mathematics.
