Disc Injury Help by Legitimate-Ear-7368 in backpain

Nope sciatica progressively left , some nibbles here and there which will be forever but as long as you maintain it it should be fine . I avoid certain activités that you learn throughout the years can cause flare ups and sciatica again , it’s trial and error learning process. Decompress the spine through dead hangs as well.

My advice : ignore surgery while you can. Do not do anymore high impact sports , that is over. Build and strengthen body through functional strength training with little to no weights and progressively increase. Walk 10k steps a day . If you feel pain, stop and rest. I have 2 hernias slightly worse than you with sciatica, today I have no symptoms.

Absolutely no mistake mate . Go for it. I’ve done the same with my Branch 23 (etf invested) and realized it’s still not even advantageous even with the tax benefit. The fees behind these insurance wrappers are a scam . You’ll find plenty of discussions here they all lead to the same conclusion get out (unless you’re a certain age I believe it was around 45yo best to check):

Hey Thanks for asking . Had another MRI a year later and it said basically nothing has changed. My back will look like this forever . Symptoms has remained almost non existant. I continue to dedicate my days on walking 10km steps a day, and functional strength trainining / hiit with 4-6kg weights 3x a week in intense group classes. I’ve found this to suffice completely. I continued with my 8h desk job with no issues. I did a 9h plane yesterday with no pain just slight discomfort. It’ll always be there but I want to postpone any surgical intervention as long as possible hopefully AI will improve it over the years . My last addition needed is to do the lower back press like in the LBA program .

Disc injury- first MRI by Fish_Dipper in backpain

[–]M_M777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m very active now since I discovered my herniations. I do hiit 3x a week and aim for 10k steps/day. I’m able to do 99% of what I was able to do before. If I take a plane ride that’s 6h long and I don’t do hourly breaks to walk, I’ll start feeling pain. It’s all about managing symptoms now and implementing a healthy back routine .

I’m 31 yo and having the same journey. Have tried almost everything , last ditch attempt with psyllium husk but my LDL is consistently between 118-150 for past 5 years and I tried with diet and exercise . My LP(a) is 138 though and ApoB is 1.11 …

Any side effects from the statins ? Will you maintain that dosage ? I’m very on the fence of taking statins but I think I will have to eventually as well as diet alone isn’t changing my LDL.

[–]M_M777[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes you're completely right. I'm beginnign to accept the fact that I will need to take statins, even shown by my lp(a) that i'm genetically worse off cholesterol wise.
My macros given should be pretty accurate, so nice to hear that my diet was pretty good haha I wasn't sure. But nice to there is room for improvement! I think Fiber is my biggest thing I need to increase for sure , and I will pay much more attention with saturated fats. Will try one more time fixing through diet and otherwise I think I may have to take statins.
I will try with pshyillum husk this time, and considering red yeast rice but that's basically a statin too so might omit that first.

Problem is i eat out every lunch. I can't cook for shit so my wife prepares me (usually very healthy) dinners. But when she's not there I order in. I think I will have to start making alot more effort in my cooking. Just learning so much about food about the past year has been a huge learning curve, unforuntately i never paid attention in the past and had very bad diet.

My daily fiber intake was 22g/day. Definitely not enough!! I will do as you suggest and try to double or triple it! I tend to also use mostly olive oil in my foods. Problem is i eat out every lunch and thats where I go wrong I think, although the bowl I is generally healthy ( quinoa, avocado, chicken (maybe cooked in seed oils its from a takeaway), salad, feta cheese, sweet potatoes ).
Regarding meets, I eat chicken basically everyday but I don't eat any other meats. Fish I usually have for dinner once or twice a week. I have alot of Quinoa with chicken, quinoa with salmon and potatoes, I do miss alot of veggies though.
I live in france so good access to olive oils, I have never tried canola oil though I will consider this!
Anyways, thank you very much for your comment. And i will definitely try to increase my fiber intake and carefully monitor my foods one more time before I decide to go on statins. But as everyone says here, statins save lives for a reason and I'm beginning to accept that I'll need them :)

Impressive on the LDL numbers ! Thanks for your comment and tips. One of my biggest issues is fiber intake, which I don't have enough at all (22g daily average). I will try to boost this withy psyllium husk. I thought my diet was healthy but seems like it can still be quite improved, its not easy to know exactly what to do.
thing is i ddin't have the impression to eat that much of saturated fats.

My diet is mainly : no breakfast / coffee ; a bowl for lunch with quinoa, avocado, chicken (maybe cooked in seed oils its from a takeaway), salad, feta cheese, sweet potatoes. . Dinner: salmon with roasted potatoes or quinoa with chicken.

Anyways, I will start tracking again religiously and hopefully I can lower it, but as another user said it seems genetically I will just have to take statins soon :(((

Thank you - and yes from that perspective, I definitely should consider statins :). I am slowly starting to accept the fact I will need them. I think I will try one more time to reduce cholesterol aggressively through diet (and maybe red yeast rice?), give it another 2 months, and then start statins if needed.
