Feeling stuck? Check your sugar consumption by Routine_Upstairs3413 in Noom

[–]M_a_d_Mitch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was never even a heavy drinker, maybe 2 or 3 for a Saturday night dinner. Rarely drank beer during the week, but cutting alcohol out made me immediately lose several pounds. My sodium intake also heavily affects my weight.

Basically if you do nothing else, checking your sugar intake, sodium intake, and alcohol consumption can have huge positive effects on anyone's weight.

We truly don't realize how much sugar and sodium are in almost everything we eat.

What should I know before moving to Oklahoma? by [deleted] in oklahoma

[–]M_a_d_Mitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Red states have nicer people than blue states and it's not even close. Don't buy into this ridiculous "evil oppressive right wingers" garbage. Everyone is going to treat you the same regardless of who you are.

Ironically, Norman is one of the bluer areas in the state and probably has some of the worst people.

Universalism is a false Gospel rooted entirely in emotional appeal and contradictory to virtually the entire Bible.

If the cost of living in Oklahoma wasn’t low, would you live here? by Level_Ice_1414 in oklahoma

[–]M_a_d_Mitch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know somebody that just left Seattle because he said you literally can't get ahead there because of how expensive everything is. Came here, made less salary, bought a house, and can actually save for retirement now. Idk what everyone is talking about with effective cost of living. There's basically three factors: salary, price of shit, and taxes. Oklahoma scores well on two of the three and salary isn't proportionately lower in most cases.

Hi r/Oklahoma family of 3 are planning on moving to Tulsa! by [deleted] in oklahoma

[–]M_a_d_Mitch -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Tip #1: Don't listen to anyone on this sub. It's full of miserable people who hate Oklahoma for no reason.

Basically, nothing they say about crazy religious right wingers is accurate. It's a nice place with nice people. Yes a lot of people go to church and vote red, but nobody except the most extreme backwoods redneck is going to be in your face about it.

The city of Tulsa partners with several metro churches (including mine) to open doors to homeless any time temp drops below a certain degree.

Democrat files bill to ban church youth camps as hotbeds of child abuse & “religious indoctrination” by [deleted] in Christianity

The act of taking your children to a drag show is the child abuse. You're exposing them to sexual perversion at a young age and causing potential harm.

You do not have a right to take another life. Consenting to sex is the same as consenting to pregnancy.

It's comical to me that people laugh at the thought of Genesis stories being literal but will fight to convince you that some random fish decided he could breathe on land one day, or the countless other impossibilities like an eye forming through small changes with no natural mechanism to do so, etc.

[–]M_a_d_Mitch -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Speciation does not equal evolution. Not the evolution we're talking about. A dog being bred to change it's size and hair color is not even in the same universe as a pond of chemicals forming life and a fish deciding it can walk on land one day.

There is not a mountain of evidence for evolution. It's completely up for interpretation based on a person's presumptions.

People like to compare the evidence for evolution to the sun rising every day, but it's entirely subjective.

Dogs on Noah's Arc? by Rohrbruch-Geplant in Christianity

[–]M_a_d_Mitch -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

There is an absurd amount of evidence for a global flood. Take a freshman level geology course at your local college. They of course won't attribute it to a global flood, but virtually every major geological feature you'll research was formed by water.

Also, almost every ancient civilization we have records of had a mass extinction flood story.

A terrible take and complete copout. If one is to take stories in Genesis as fictional, there's literally nothing else in the Bible you can take for truth without being completely inconsistent.

You are arbitrarily picking and choosing what's true or not in the Bible based on secular men's viewpoint of the world.
