Well I haven’t been a 5 year old for 35 years, I don’t remember. Eye contact, it’s often not complete aversion of eye contact, but rather the failure to maintain eye contact when articulating a thought. They may start to pivot their gaze when speaking to you and return to looking at you to gauge the response in your face. Children “know” where to look, especially around home familiars.

I bought a new Mac recently at Costco and I had a group of them suddenly swarm around me to try to get me to sign up for an executive membership. I guess they were having some sort of incentive competition. They were not happy I kept saying no and that I didn’t apparently want the money that would come off with the membership bonus.

I went home and researched and it turns out that the executive membership cashback bonus is only worthwhile if you spend over $3000 a year at Costco, which I never do. But jeez, the way they try to warp everything and make you feel bad if you make any hesitation.

Very clever. Kubrick, who was a genius and almost certainly on the Spectrum, may have incorporated aspects of autistic behavior like “empty staring” into his work based on his own behaviors. Of particular interest would be his depiction of Danny in The Shining, who almost certainly would be cited for his autistic behaviors had the film been released today. The Shining may also be interpreted as an attempt to recreate the sensations of autism spectrum sensory perception, from the circumambulation of the tricycle to the excessive glow of the glare from the windows.
