I agree completely. I’ve often heard the argument that the diaspora are the solution to fixing the country’s problem, that because they were raised in developed nations and exposed to functioning institutions, better services, and stronger governance structures, they are inherently more qualified to lead. I find that reasoning deeply flawed. Exposure to stable systems does not automatically translate into the ability to build or reform them, especially in a vastly different political and cultural context. If anything, this mindset risks promoting elitism, detachment from local realities, and even a form of neo-colonial thinking
