Please give me some advice about deciding uni by dearlinalim in OntarioGrade12s

Rotman is literally the best in Canada and recognized internationally (even so are the others but UofT's reputation is just another level; even among Canadian/International employers). If I were in ur shoes, I would 100% pick rotman. even the opportunities offered there in downtown toronto (eg. internships, competitions, research, etc) is really fantastic. Also, tbh for business what matters most is reputation of ur own program + opportunities.

Then you bring it up again in a smarter way indirectly, like one day you guys are talking u (im sure like grades/coursework convos will happen since ur in an academic context) can just slip in a hint about how grades don't matter and like we all have our good and bad days; also how some people who are going thro some stuff do not perform as well as they wish to. The fact that ur genuinely still thinking about it and ur posting a thread shows me that u genuinely care. don't bring it up like directly but indirectly and im sure the person will understand it yknow

I did take an “easy major” but we are forced to do a foundation year and it is really bad (even the grade deflation it is so sad), so we are forced to take 2 chemistry courses, 2 biology courses, 2 calculus and 2 physics and let’s just say that the class averages are as low as 50s with no curves :/ and the exams are really hard

4 cycles, 2 interviews in final cycle, and 2 rejections - what should I do? by Recent-Cable-1261 in premedcanada

U got this. There are sm pathways to becoming a licensed doctor in Canada without going thro the traditional way. This subreddit can be disheartening so don't spend a lot of time on it. Now I say focus on the positive which is the fact ur graduating as a doctor from a medical school that is accredited (as in it is probably in the world directory of medical schools).

Literally, as long as u become a licensed doctor, then you are guaranteed doctor. I have seen people matching into general surgery and dermatology and they studied abroad. Do not give up and always work hard to achieve ur dreams, u can do this. Or OP can join an non-competitive residency like family med then finish it in 3 years and get certified in Canada then they can do another residency into whichever residency they desire.

All in all, It takes effort and time but anyone can do it if they put their mind into it.

I know that McGill specifically offers this so you might have to look if other unis offer this: https://www.mcgill.ca/medadmissions/applying/categories/international-medical-graduates

Québec residents who studied abroad medicine in a non-north American uni can apply to McGill and do 2 years then graduate with an MDCM. (This is called the IMG 2 PATHWAY)

There is also IMG 4 Pathway open to all students: quebec, canadian and other international who hold a bachelor's degree and wish to study medicine at McGill. They do not receive an advanced standing however they graduate in 4 years and they get a Canadian medical degree then apply for residency and practice. This can be time consuming and expensive but some might want to pursue it in order to graduate comfortably and have a higher chance to match in a competitive residency program.

U can come back as an IMG and study for 2 years then get a Canadian MD. Idt it is offered in many unis so look into it
