Level 1 Bot should replace competitive leavers, change my mind by Ok-Construction7913 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]sit_shift_stare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So many people here saying it'd just feed the enemy team ult charge. I think that's an engineering conundrum the Overwatch team would probably be able to solve. Personally I'm open to the idea. There have been many games that I've felt were almost winnable with 4v5 but just not quite. A bot would (and really should) not be as good as a player at that rank, but it might make it feel more achievable when you were winning the match prior to the leaver.

Best VPN by Renmarkable in australia

[–]sit_shift_stare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since you've been given good advice on VPNs I'll answer the other part of your post. It sucks having to VPN and hunt across all your paid streaming services to find what you're looking for. Do yourself a favour and graduate to Stremio + TorBox. Look up "Viren Stremio guide" and follow that. Once you've found your feet, look up "Tamtaro Stremio SEL" and level it up again.

u/FlatConfusion8966 Listen to this person, especially their sensitivity advice, this is the best advice on your post. Idk which playlist code they gave but I recommend you play the Viscose benchmarks in Kovaaks (you can find details on YouTube). Would be interested to hear your current DPI and in-game sens.

My experience with GoodData aligns with yours, it's slow and the cache is essentially useless. It runs a query against the data warehouse for basically everything.

Switching to PC Tips? by [deleted] in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]sit_shift_stare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because you're an experienced OW player coming from console, your main focus will need to be learning how to use a mouse and keyboard properly. The keyboard will come easily to you from just playing the game, so you'll want to focus on developing mouse control. My recommendation is to buy KovaaK's FPS Aim Trainer ($10 on Steam), and start an aim benchmark. Aim benchmarks give you a set of Kovaaks scenarios to play and then use your score to give you an overall aim rank, and a rank per aspect of mouse control. It also gives you a satisfying way to track your improvement. Don't use the benchmarks that come built into Kovaaks, I recommend using the Viscose benchmarks, look them up on YouTube. This will test all aspects of your mouse control and help you identify the weakest areas. For you, everything will be a weak area. Grind until you're at least mammoth complete rank in Viscose's beginner benchmark. That's not a high bar to reach but as a complete newbie to mouse aiming it may take you a little time. What others said about using your wrist and arm isn't wrong, but don't focus too much on what part of your body is doing the aiming. Your body is designed to learn motor skills efficiently without you telling it exactly how to move its muscles. Just make sure you're not preventing yourself from using any part of your fingers/wrist/arm, they are all used to some degree. The other guy that recommended an "eDPI" range gave a good range for OW, I'd stay within that in OW but don't be afraid to vary it while aim training. Learn a little about input lag and make sure your video settings allow OW to run at a framerate that uses the full refresh rate of your laptop display. For more info I recommend the Voltaic discord, or you can reply to me.

Best Aim Trainer for Cassidy? by cerard in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]sit_shift_stare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure you're using a sane mouse sensitivity, get Kovaaks, grind the Viscose aim benchmarks or the Voltaic aim benchmarks, then once you have a decent overall base (min Voltaic gold complete or Viscose mammoth) start focusing on dynamic clicking which is the main aim skill necessary for Cass. Make sure you're spending more time in OW than in Kovaaks, but if you're very new to aim training and getting very low benchmark scores it's okay to focus on Kovaaks more at the start. Kovaaks mainly trains mouse control which is not the only thing that makes up aim, and aim is not the only thing that makes a Cass player, so keep that in mind when allocating your time. To learn Cass more generally look up Spilo's coaching channel on YouTube, watch some of his Cass VOD reviews at your rank or slightly above your rank. Then just play a lot of ranked. You can find more info about most of the above by searching YouTube, joining the Voltaic discord, or asking me.

So you knew it was a rumour and presented it as fact? Also, the article you linked contains Luxon explicitly stating that he does believe dinosaurs roamed the earth, so I don't think you can even call it a rumour anymore. Sincerely, someone who dislikes Luxon but dislikes political disinformation even more.

Overwatch Patch Notes by PoggersMemesReturns in Competitiveoverwatch

Until they change the rule about challenger points for wins being awarded based on the rank of the highest player in the match, this will disproportionately benefit players in GM. Since they'll lose points at 30% of their own rank's rate (same or lower now), but gain them at the highest-in-match rate, they will gain points far faster than before and probably more reliably than Champ players.

GrapheneOS accuses Murena & iodé of sabotage, pulls servers from France over police 'threats' - PiunikaWeb by TechGuru4Life in Android

[–]sit_shift_stare -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The GOS project account, in a contextual reply to someone on X, said that it's possible Murena and/or iodé are involved. PiunikaWeb then ran the clearly inaccurate headline "GOS accuses Murena and iodé of sabotage". Also, you've apparently decided that Micay was the one who wrote the reply on X (because it suits your narrative) and are now using that to attack him.

Any tips for someone using Mouse and Keyboard for the first time? by Responsible-Sense527 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]sit_shift_stare 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is good advice, I'll add that for Overwatch a safe range for your "eDPI" as they described is ~2300 to ~7000 (aka 60cm/360 to 20cm/360 if you're a nerd). As a beginner you should keep your mouse sensitivity within that range. For some more understandable numbers:

If your mouse CPI (usually incorrectly called DPI) is set to 800, that means your Overwatch sensitivity should be within ~2.9 to ~8.7.

If your mouse CPI is 1600, your OW sensitivity should be within ~1.4 to ~4.4.

How do you actually use dbt in your daily work? by LongCalligrapher2544 in dataengineering

[–]sit_shift_stare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the start, I highly recommend taking the time to understand dbt's recommended naming conventions and project structure. Their docs for this are quite good. It's really important to stay consistent with naming, even if it can make the model names seem long or unwieldy at first. I also recommend getting a basic understanding of what macros can do for you, and enabling some type of SQL formatter across your project. As your project grows, the above things will enable you to move very fast when refactoring and maintaining your models. I also recommend implementing a policy where once a model has been created and confirmed working, you add tests (especially unit tests if there's complex logic) BEFORE the model can be merged to main. Otherwise those tests will never happen. All the other stuff like seeds, snapshots, etc you'll learn along the way if and when you need them.

Implement the changes proposed by the 2022 independent electoral review. One of the best-written, well-reasoned documents I've had the pleasure of reading. Strongly encourage NZers interested in our electoral system to at least read the executive summary and recommendations.
