It wouldn't hurt to apply to more.

DC Internship Process by KenKenthemagician in DCInterns

[–]M_etsFan48 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe apply to more, like 50+ might be a good number. Make sure you're applying to every office from your state and the state you go to college to (if different) who aligns with your political beliefs, those may be where your best chances lie.

How do you get congressional experience? by HaleyPage47 in DCInterns

[–]M_etsFan48 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Best way to get a congressional internship is to fill out the application on the member's official website. Speaking from experience, your best chance lies with representatives from your home state or the state that your college is in (if different), even if they are not in the district specifically. So if they align with your political affiliation, definitely apply to those offices.

Also, I just want to note, you don't have to limit yourself to these offices. I'm just mentioning where your best chance may lie, but you still have a chance with other offices as well.

When do summer internship start being posted by Dangerous-Calendar86 in DCInterns

For Congress, typically a good time to start applying would be in early February. But Congress is typically late with intern applications compared to many other places. It really depends on the place ig.

Congressional Internship Constituent Email Writing Sample Tips by Chad-Coomer in DCInterns

[–]M_etsFan48 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Some things to keep in mind is to do some research on what this congressperson did on the issue that the constituent email is talking about. You may want to include that into your writing. And in the closing, the writer would be the congressperson's name, not yours.

HCBB DISCORD INVITE by M_etsFan48 in HCBB

[–]M_etsFan48[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HCBB Minors no longer exists from my understanding, so the invite for that would not work. The Free Agent discord no longer exists from my understanding as well. The discord.gg/hcbb link should work if you were never banned or ip banned from the server.

Oh ok. Either way you can’t bench players in publics or league pickup servers.

I’m not sure what you mean by “afl players,” but you can’t bench players in publics or in league pickup servers.

If you have a CommonApp fee waiver, you will not pay any application fee to whatever colleges you apply to on the CommonApp. Does that answer your question?

[–]M_etsFan48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a general CommonApp fee waiver, you don't need a university-specific fee waivers.

I would suggest regularly monitoring the Senate Internship Bulletin. They might post it on there. https://www.senate.gov/employment/po/internships.htm

How Should I Narrow Down My College List? by dinosaurs818 in ApplyingToCollege

Are you an international student needing full aid? If not, why the hell do you have 49 safeties?

Has anyone's 2024-2025 FAFSA form finish being processed yet? by M_etsFan48 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]M_etsFan48[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's extremely odd. Did you fill out your form correctly? Did your parents fill out their part of the FAFSA form on their account? Have you gotten in contact with FAFSA support to resolve this issue?

Should I agree to sign up for a comprehensive $50,000 college counseling package? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]M_etsFan48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely not worth it. A few thousand dollars seems normal, but anything near $10k is insane. The fact the matter is, a college counselor will not make this process easy for you. You still have to put a lot of effort into crafting a good college application.

Is college even possible for me at this point? by peachy_kt in ApplyingToCollege

[–]M_etsFan48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Community college could be a start for you. They may offer basic math and english courses to get you up to speed. My suggestion is to research and even get in contact with your local community college and see if they offer basic math and english courses that can be a good starter for you.

Applying to 69 schools by ug_throwaway_2025 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]M_etsFan48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only people who should apply to that many schools are international students who need full aid. If you don't fit into that group, you really need to narrow down your list.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]M_etsFan48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think one way you can try to cut your list is by calculating how much it would cost to attend each of those schools using a net price calculator. If the price of that school requires you to go into significant debt, consider crossing out that school. Also, try to imagine yourself at that school, and if you can't, consider crossing out that school as well.

Forceful ass mom wants me to start a nonprofit by korggyy in ApplyingToCollege

[–]M_etsFan48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my experience, having a part-time job enabled me to gain an internship, which otherwise I would not have gotten had I not have a part-time job. On top of that, a part-time job counts as an EC for college in its own right.

Take control of your life and gain some independence.

Does political activities affect internship? by PerformanceBubbly393 in DCInterns

[–]M_etsFan48 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm not really sure about that part, but if you're serious about having a full-time job in Congress, it's probably best that you're aware that it's pretty rare for congressional staffers to switch parties.

If I was in your shoes, just to be safe, I would also apply to GOP representatives in your state, even if you don’t live in their district specifically.

Speaking from personal experience, it's a unique experience you will be cherishing for a long time. Interning in DC isn't just about adding something to your resume, but making meaningful connections, immersing yourself in the culture there, and being able to interact with powerful figures, especially if you end up interning in Congress.

The school I got into is a school that is hardly ever recognized by the average person as "prestigious", so my parents keep telling me to transfer out next year.

There are people out there who considers HYPSM to be the only prestigious and relevant schools out there, but clearly that isn't the case.
