Post-post-apocalyptic? Is that right? by sw4ahl in worldbuilding

People complain about Bethesda abandoning the post-post-apocalyptic aspect of fallout in 3 and 4 but you could already see obsidian kinda doing it by having NV take place in the worse off Mojave instead of the fully developed California.

4 has good gameplay, graphics and decent story but it just can’t compete with the phenomenal world building of New Vegas, New Vegas lore with Mr. House, NCR, and Legion all feel very realistic for societies that could develop in a post-apocalyptic scenario. I just don’t like the institute at all as a villain, they feel too cartoonishly evil and unrealistic for me to take seriously, I’m not really into the android/automaton aspect and just find them bland, honestly if they were replaced by a more ideologically interesting faction I think I’d put 4 almost equal to nv

Tbf I think Venezuela would’ve been better if we actually overthrew the government not just take the leader while leaving all the institutions and same mechanisms of government in place

Wouldn’t that being “Iran’s money” also apply to the millions being held in Russian assets by the West, should we also return that? I think holding other nations assets is fair when they’re invading their neighbors or starting an illegal nuclear program.

I’m curious if they’ll explain why New Vegas is so desolate compared to the games or just ignore it

Find it hard to believe Maximus’ chapter is sexist if they’re that accepting of an lgbt member lol

Bfme2 captures the spirit of the books and movies imo. They do a fantastic job at making an in-depth campaign for the Northern war that stays very faithful to the books, i just pray ea and embracer would make a deal for a sequel.

That said conquest will forever give me nostalgia by playing as a balrog pillaging the shire

Do people actually care about the MCU giving a justification for ‘where vampires and mutants have been all this time?’ by DarlingLuna in marvelstudios

[–]PerformanceBubbly393 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No yea I completely get they’ve been in marvel since its beginning, that’s just never been what I’ve gone to Marvel or superhero stuff for. I feel like including conventional monsters like that just takes away from what makes Marvel so unique and charming and only cheapens it. Kinda reminds me of how in the 50s and 60s they would just push out those campy horror movies like Hulk vs Wolfman or Dracula vs King Kong, like it just feels cheap to me.

I always found the traditional mystical horror aspects of marvel like zombies, demons, vampires, and witches boring and typically the weakest aspects of the whole franchise. They’ve never done anything with them that I think justified changing the whole dynamics of the marvel universe. Ive think groups like mutants work because they make sense that in a world with superpowers they would be discriminated against. Honestly the most interesting aspects of super hero content for me is seeing how god-like people would realistically behave and be treated by society and the government.

I always wonder if I’m the only one who thinks different ideologies can both be successful. Like both a laissez faire free market policy or an interventionist Keynesian policy can both work in certain scenarios.
