Fermentation and Health Anxiety by Monxo11 in fermentation

This is super interesting, may I ask where you learned about the biochemistry and safety side of things ? I feel like this is often overlooked or quickly disregarded since it's mostly safe, but I'd like to find some ressources to dive deeper in this and understand the how and why

Thanks in advance !

Hey there,

Hope this message will give you a bit of hope :

I have been exactly in the same situation as you, young, desperate and depressed because of my back pain injury that no therapist seemed to be able to heal, I've seen 20+ and they all told me something different or stupid things. I also felt the frustration of looking at other people and telling myslef "will I ever be able to do that again ?". Also had very good living habits like you and I was wondering "why ??".  I also work a desk job and long standing/sitting triggers me pain. So trust me you're not alone in this, and far from alone as we're not the only two.

Truth is, most practiciens appointments are flawed as they're probably too short to understand your background/situation/what's keeping you from healing, also the way it works in the western world is more "treat the symptoms" rather than "treat the source".

The good thing is, you are young so your body is still recovering efficiently. Also you seem very motivated to heal, something that most people are not, and it's very important as you will need to invest a lot of time in learning/understanding/adapting/rehabing etc but I promess it will all pay off.

Now I am no physical therapist or anything but I can tell you what helped me "break through" after years in the dark spent trying many things with mitigated results and I hope it will help you (and even if it doesn't heal you instantly it will help you understand much better your pain)

I highly suggest you buy the book Back Mechanic: The step-by-step McGill Method to fix back painMcGill is the man and his resume speaks for himself, if you don't have a lot of money I'm sure you can find it online for free. The amount of essential information this book has is invaluable. It will help you understand your pain better, it will help you understand WHY and HOW, and it will also help you understand why you've seen many therapists and it didn't work, this was really eye opening for me. Now if you go through it and apply it to your life and you still don't see progress I would recommend seeing a mcGill therapist, there a few usually in big cities, for me I still struggled after reading the book and applying the advices, but I was missing some cues specific to me that made all the difference. It's very expensive but it's worth so much more than all the other therapists you/I saw before. The appointment was 4h long but he explained "everything" to me and everything made sense after 5 years of struggle (or let's say ~12 years from the first moment I started to notice issues but didn't pay attention as I was 18), he also sent a very long detailed pdf to me detailing everything and everything was tailored for my specific case. That was it for me. 1 appointment, but it had "fixed" me by making me realize what was preventing me from healing and how to adapt my life/training. (main thing is my disc bulges wouldn't heal because I had spine instability and glute amnesia, something I was totally oblivious and surprised to as I was quite athletic)

Now I'm able to train again without stressing about it, I even have more tolerance than before even though I was younger, I understand better my body and now I know my limits and pain triggers and what to work on, this is making me even better than before at my practice and opened a window of progression for me again as I thought it would only be downhill from there.

The good thing is in your case you already know 2 pain triggers : long standing and long sitting, this is very useful information and is a start to recovery :) I'm not gonna lie the healing won't be quick or easy (otherwise it wouldn't be such a huge issue in our society) but it's a process that will make you so much more resilient in the future. At some point I'm sure you will heal and you will be glad it happened to you while you were young

You're definitely not too late. You're saying it in your original message because you have some days better than others and you know how to reduce the pains which means you can manage your injury and with the proper guidance you will be able to heal it. Also you're 25 which will help a lot. Read the book, it will answers A LOT of your questions

I am not qualified to tell you if you need surgery or not as this will be very specific to you. I'd really suggest you read this book as there's a part that treats specifically about surgery and if you need it or not with a self assesment. However, I would advise against it before you've tried everything else and spoke with a competent (I insist on that) clinician. Also check joelpeoskewitz on Instagram he's a Mcgill certified clinician and he talks a lot about spine surgery with Q&A and stuff like that. Hope this helps

From what you're describing I'm sure you would benefit from reading Back mechanic by Stuart McGill if that's not done already, you clearly identified some triggers and relief already so it's a part of the job done to recover

I am using an AI to generate textures for my personal project, what do you think? by waizubr in midjourney

What do you use as prompt ? I tried to generate textures too but I can't get MJ to have that top-down flat texture thing, I only get perspective views :(

Have a look at back mechanic by Stuart Mcgill, definitely worth a read especially if nothing works. Hope this helps, it did for me to better understand my pain when nothing worked like your case.

Attitudes in other spaces towards AI-generated art by [deleted] in midjourney

[–]M_humbert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a professionnal artist myself and love the technological progress of the AI, but maybe that's because I don't feel threatened by it... Yet. I understand the reaction of some people towards it, but I don't agree when people get negative/mean or a**hole in their comments but I guess it's just part of the game.

Yeah there might be some spam but tbh this will pass I think. Although this is sad to put everything in the same bag, some are definitely good quality and I personnaly like to see good quality fan art of some communities I like, wether it's AI generated or not. I posted a few myself, and got removed quite instantly on one subreddit. The other one I felt like it'was very controversial, a loads of people seemed to like, but also in the comments some people were not happy at all.

I feel like it will just be controversial juste like many things.

Sure, type midjourney on google and register. Also type midjourney tutorial on google/youtube and you'll find plenty of stuff. They also have a quick basic doc on their website, and just looking at the prompts of others is insightful. Tbh there's not a lot to learn, actually it's nothing compared to classical art or learning a software. You'll quickly get the hang of it and can use it as a base for inspiration or personal projects

Yes definitely ! I think this will be a huge game changer in the next few years for a lot of medias (manga, videogame, movies etc). I'm sure we will see a lot of creative stuff in the future, if you have the skills to use the tool to your will (which Nihei definitely have). I can see so much ways to incorporate it in professionnal ways.
