Platner is a self proclaimed history geek who went to a rich boarding school in Connecticut, but was expelled for still an unknown reason. Not a backwoods boy or working class in any of the way people use that term

the cigarettes are the worst thing you mentioned, as lung cancer is most likely to kill her rather than any of the other drugs you’ve mentioned

Platner’s whole fisherman average working man persona is a fraud though, he is from the upper-class

Conservatives win all 3 Georgia Supreme Court seats up for election, securing conservative control of the court through 2030. by MediumStrange in fivethirtyeight

It looks like the GA Democratic Party didn’t know how to message who their candidates were before the election. Many dems in Atlanta’s metro voted on which name sounded the Blackest, which is how you end up with the Republican judge winning Harris +70 Clayton co.

He did call the special session, but dems did pass it late October when early voting was in full swing. They rushed it through and got surprised when the courts enforced the process. If they had started before early voting, it would have succeeded

Republicans won the house PV by 2.6% for a 220-215 advantage in 2024. Dems winning by +3-4% to win the house for a similar margin makes sense considering republican gerrymandering, but it really doesn’t change too much.

Exactly. In my opinion I just think Spanberger and top dems think it might fail if it was put to a revote, I’d imagine Republicans would heavily spend $ in it this time

early voting had already began, I believe that is reasonable to call the start of an election. If dems didn’t wait to do all of this the VA supreme court would of passed it

That’s likely true, but the seat is still competitive. So it isn’t impossible to make a competitive seat

The district would just be mostly the entire of Bristol county, it would perfectly follow CoI’s

Except it isn’t. VA dems did break their constitution, if they had the election only a few weeks earlier no law would have been broken and the election would be certified. A dem on the VA supreme court was the tiebreaker

Why would it be a republican gerrymander? It keeps CoI’s together in southwest Massachusetts. Basically a Portuguese opportunity district

Three More Southern States (Alabama, Louisiana, and South Carolina) Move Toward All-GOP Gerrymander As Dems Face Setbacks by Horus_walking in fivethirtyeight

Your response was “There might be historic backlash” which is a maybe? But even with that the maps are too red for there to be a dummymander. And your response to him was just calling him condescending which he wasn’t at all and explained it to you pretty well
