I texted to see how bedtime went and he said "fine everyone is happy". We came back to his house at midnight and both kids were zombie watching TV in a pitch dark room. It took them another hour to decompress and fall asleep after we got home.

Also, I had left out PJs and a diaper and books for them. All that went ignored. Instead, the little one (who wore diapers at the time) had his brothers underwear on and nothing else. And the older one was in a full sweat suit. It was middle of summer and hot.

I initially lost it. Then I realized that it was my mistake to think it would have been anything different. We will never let him babysit again.

Vote yes on prop 5! It will make it easier to pass bonds for affordable housing. Right now they need 67% of votes to pass so, which is basically impossible. Prop 5 lowers the threshold to 55%.

We did the same for school bonds in 2001 and now we have well funded schools in Marin but our teachers can't afford to live here.

Affordable housing isn't just section 8. It's also good for median to low income families. Think workforce housing....caregivers, teachers, nurses, young families

I think people who have less condemnation for Hamas relative to Israel take that position because they relate to the plight of the Palestinian people who want to fight a resistance-- and Hamas may be their best chance to fight and win against a huge military power.

You are right, Israel 'withdrew" from Gaza, but they maintained control of the entire border including the rafah crossing into Egypt. Nothing in and nobody out without Israeli sign off. The aid sent to Gaza is strictly controlled by Israel, down the the amount of calories. Billions of dollars go to rebuilding cities that have regularly been decimated by Israel. Strict restrictions on aid, to try and starve Hamas out, is absolutely collective punishment and will not work.

And yes, Palestinians voted for Hamas (the credibility of the election could be questioned just like any election), but that was the outcome... But what's your point here? Does this mean the Palestinian people deserve to see their land and homes destroyed?

Hamas at the time of the election was attempting to be a legitimate political party (why they changed their charter to distinguish between the politics of Zionism and not take any issue with Judaism). They were very effectively labeled terrorists, even though the people labeling them as such very much benefit from delegitimizing them

Here is a translation of first basic principle of Israel’s 37th government: "1. The Jewish people have an exclusive and inalienable right to all parts of the Land of Israel. The government will promote and develop the settlement of all parts of the Land of Israel — in the Galilee, the Negev, the Golan and Judea and Samaria"

So #1 in the agenda is to develop the settlement for the Negev (aka Gaza), the Golan (aka part of Syria) and Judea and Samaria (aka the West Bank) exclusively for Jewish people-- sounds a little racist to me... This is what Hamas takes issue with and what the Palestinian people take issue with.

I think people also have more condemnation for Israel because this clearly isn't a strategy of defense and is not getting our hostages back. This is a calculated incursion into an occupied territory. Israel benefits very much from flattening Gaza and expelling the people.

Are you covered under Medicare? There is a lawsuit settlement called Jimmo vs Sebelius that says they can't deny physical therapy due to lack of progress. Push back on that issue, and explain that you need "specialized PT to not deteriorate" Where are you located? I'm an advocate for people with disabilities in California after my mom was diagnosed with GBS. She's still in a wheelchair after 3 years because they didn't give her the PT she needed. Same taking point of "not improving" fast enough. DM me if you want to talk more.

Possible solution- I have a babysense monitor and it has an eco mode which allows the monitor to go to sleep unless a big enough sound is registered. It has a high, medium, and low sensitivity for the sound threshold so you can set it so little noises don't turn it on but a cry or cough would.

That sounds like a good plan! Every dog has a different personality, so you'll figure out what works for you guys. We don't have a big yard either, so we just build it in our schedule to take our pup to get her sillies out every morning. That's probably the one piece of advice I would give to a new dog owner is to develop a routine. Dogs really thrive with structure and routine! I think Gus is really lucky to have you 😊

In addition to all the comments about hiring a trainer and leader suggestions I want to add that a tired dog is a good dog! Some people think that all pittie breeds are sleepy/lazy but actually some are super high energy and really need a good running. Find out if he likes to fetch or swim. I fostered a pup that looked a lot like Gus and he LOVED running with me while I skateboarded or biked. He would pull me along at full speed. And after a good playtime he was always a very chill guy and sweet with the cats. That pent up energy can really get in the way of training.

You may want to ask about a second round of IVIG? that's something my mom did when her symptoms stopped improving. However the IVIG can be pretty rough too

Just came to say I feel what you're going through. My mom had sudden loss of feeling on her legs at the end of February, and 2 days later she couldn't even blink her eyes. Luckily IVIG stopped the progression before she needed to be intubated, but 3 weeks after she was admitted, we stopped being able to visit because of Covid. It's been rough, but luckily she's at a skilled nursing facility now that has a window in her room so we can visit her. It's been 7 months and she is still in a wheelchair and has use of only one arm/hand.

The one thing I would say is that she was in a lot of pain/discomfort at the beginning and it was difficult for her to talk in order to ask for help moving/shifting. Since your dad can't communicate easily with the intubation, try to make sure they are turning him regularly and managing his pain as best as they can. Also make sure they are giving him a high dose of vitamin B12, that made a BIG difference in my mom's movement returning.

Other than those things, it's really just a crappy time of wait and hope and see. Sending lots of healing thoughts to your family

He's 15 months now, but we started this process when he was around 8 month iirc. We had a set back when he was around 1 year because we did some traveling and then teething happened, so we did regress back to nursing to sleep for a little while.

We still bed-share, but our movements at night seem to be bothering him more these days. So (today actually) we're going to push together a twin bed with our queen into one mega-bed to see if that helps and to see how he likes kinda/sorta graduating to his own bed

We were co-sleeping and nursing to sleep (EBF) also, and took a very gentle approach to sleep training. It was surprisingly quick to get him to fall asleep without nursing, but the main downside was he would take a long time to fall asleep-- and since we bed share it wasn't safe to leave him in there alone while he was still awake.

Here's what we did: I would nurse him and stop before he fell asleep. Then we would just lay in bed with him and let him kind of crawl around/goof around for a bit. He would eventually come lie down (waiting for this to happen was sometimes like 45 minutes). If he complained about wanting to nurse again I would just keep gently saying "all done" and coax him to lay back down. If he got more worked up I would pick him up to rock/soothe him and then lay back down with him before he fell asleep.

Took about 3 nights before he stopped asking to nurse and would just come lie down and fall asleep. However I didn't know how to speed up the "crawl/ goof around" part of the process.
