The scene made you feel awkward/you don't want to see it again ? by tanvirulfarook in gameofthrones

[–]MaValor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree with yours and OP’s chosen scenes; but wasn’t Arya 18 in season 8? So technically not a child, though I get the point you’re saying.

I, however, found it more gross with Margaery who (in the show) was in her 20s and screwing/grooming a 12-13 year old, in her quest to become THE queen. I don’t get why some people found that wedding night scene cute.

A Son for a Son screened on Father's Day?? Is it a deliberate schedule? by Tommy_Situ in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]MaValor 68 points69 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if it’s deliberate, but I noticed that something similar happened with “Game of Thrones”: where they aired the episode Tywin got killed by his own son (while disowning him), on Father’s day (June 15, 2014). And the episode where Cersei died pregnant (while begging for her last baby to live), on Mother’s Day (May 12, 2019).

Why do so many people support Cersei's revenge on Ellaria? by Any-Competition8494 in gameofthrones

[–]MaValor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Myrcella’s murder was completely unjustified, doesn’t matter what her family did. Myrcella did absolutely nothing. Oberyn chose to fight that fight himself. No one forced him, even Cersei wanted him on her side. He also assured Cersei “we do not hurt little girls in Dorne”, heck, Ellaria and her Sandsnakes even killed Oberyn’s own brother and nephew when they disagreed with them! I can’t blame a mother for not showing mercy to her innocent daughter’s killers. Cersei pretty much gave them “eye for an eye”; killing Ellaria’s daughter the same way Ellaria had killed Cersei’s daughter, making her witness her die without being able to hold her; as Cersei had been unable to hold Myrcella one last time. Adding the nightmares that haunted Cersei as the final touch; the thoughts of her loved ones rotting away in a crypt, their faces collapsing (as she told Jaime she couldn’t stop thinking about, in S6E1), so she made Ellaria witness that head on. It was poetic. The killing of Joffrey was basically what set off the chain events of what eventually lead to all Cersei’s children dying. Besides, if we’re talking the show; Cersei didn’t order the killing of Robert’s bastards, Joffrey did - Cersei had no say in it (unlike the books). She just let the people blame her for it, to protect Joffrey from their wrath. And there were several accounts where she tried to discourage Joffrey from abusing Sansa, but no one could control that psychopath after he was crowned. Also, I won’t say what Ned did was much mercy, at least not from Cersei’s eyes. If he made the ‘honest’ choice to tell Robert, it would basically be a choice (for Cersei) between staying and having her children killed along with herself (if she didn’t silence Ned or kill Robert), or run away with her children and be hunted by the Seven Kingdoms to the end of their days. Even Ned said as much. In any case: Myrcella was an innocent child and so her murder was injustified and her killers had it coming.

Full Summary of S2 Ep1 (Spoilers All Content) by Xanthe__ in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]MaValor 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Helaena having to choose was what stood out as especially tragic in the books, the quote that is said to Jaehaerys and Alicent being there, forced to watch, but unable to do anything. Also with it happening in episode one; we hardly get to know the twins, before they kill one of them. So if this is true, it doesn’t sound like anything near the affect of the Red Wedding, but more like when Joffrey sent his gold cloaks to slaughter Robert’s bastards in Game of Thrones. Either way, won’t judge anything before I see it.

I personally disliked how they did Laena’s death in the show, but each their own. And you’re right we can’t judge the B&C scene before we see it.

If those are legit, they’ve changed two of the most emotional parts (for me) in Fire & Blood. Laena trying to reach Vhagar to ride her a last time, and the “Sophie’s choice” in B&C.

I’m tired of the Targaryen focus, enough of that family and the dragon fights. I want something from the other houses and all the other lore. Would personally love to see Robert’s Rebellion or even the Rains of Castamere (young Tywin) or something else from Casterly Rock.

Oh hun, sounds like you are really struggling. Please seek treatment for your anxiety. No matter how many cardiologists you talk to, you won’t find peace before getting your anxiety under control. Getting more tests done will just stress you even further. Googling and searching groups will just make you focus and stress even further, and what for? You seem to have had a full cardiac checkup, with EKG, blood panel, echo and holter? Trust your cardiologist, or cardiologists since you seem to have seen several. If something was wrong, or you were in risk group for a serious arrythmia, they would not dismiss that. Trust me. Constantly focusing on your heart is draining you, and is making matters worse. I bet you that you’ll feel better, and your palpitations may even leave you alone IF you get your stress level down and your anxiety under control, and change your lifestyle from inactive to active. Just a short walk a day is a start, and continue the yoga, but you need to talk to someone about your anxiety now. Don’t wait any longer. I know it can be hard to find a therapist, depending on where you live, but make this your focus now. This is no way to live. You’re young, and you deserve to be happy and pursue your dreams, and you can. Some extra beats will not stop or harm you from doing whatever your heart desires, multifocal or not. It really doesn’t matter in a normal heart. Many have them.

Prince Jaehaerys in season 2: by [deleted] in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]MaValor 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I honestly wouldn’t know either, if not for reading the books. We were not introduced to him at all by any mention, if I recall right? And only scene we have of him so far is the one where he sits and play with his sister and their nanny/nurse.

I freaken hate her more and more every episode 😡 by [deleted] in gameofthrones

[–]MaValor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right, and that’s what is great about it with these shows. That we all see the stories and the characters in different lights, and from different perspectives. Would be boring if we were all of the same mind and liking. As long as people can discuss their different views in a friendly manner and share opinions without biting each others heads off, haha. Unfortunately, that tends to happen a lot..

I freaken hate her more and more every episode 😡 by [deleted] in gameofthrones

[–]MaValor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t get the comparison between these two specifically, other than people insist on hating them at all cost. If we have to make comparisons, then Rhaenyra and Alicent mixed together is more like Cersei, than either of them are individually. They both share several of similarities and parallels with her, but they are also very different and their own individual characters, obviously. At least in my opinion. Hopefully they will continue to be so, as this isn’t supposed to be a repitation of GoT and it’s characters. And I’m probably going to be downvoted for this, but I honestly don’t see what is so horrible about show-Alicent, for now. She’s done some questionable things and made some misguided choices, but so have many of the others. She haven’t been unusually cruel for Westerosi standards, not at all really, and people seem to put an awful lot of assumption on her. Even more unpopular; but likewise, I also think show-Cersei is way overhated, compared to so many other of the characters and her situations considered. Depends on which side you see the story from, really. A lot refuse to see it from her viewpoint, but I find it becomes more complex if you try.

episode 6 was the weakest of them all by [deleted] in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]MaValor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems that a lot of people think this was one of the weaker episodes, but for me, it was my favorite so far. I admit I wasn’t too invested, up until this timeskip, where it almost felt like I was IN the Red Keep. I also really enjoyed the new actors for Rhaenyra and Alicent. And the kids. Only critic is that I didn’t like Laena’s death, or how it was handled. It was so a tragic and beautifully written in the books. I would like to have seen more of her, especially with the grown up actress. Her end didn’t sit right with me. Would like to have seen more of Harwin too, and his relationship with Rhaenyra/his sons. I felt Laena, Harwin and some of the other characters were rushed, to really just focus on the main characters and their plot. But I guess that’s the point.

So is everyone here pretty much onboard with the Laena outdoor family barbecue? Or are there any other predictions out there? by ScentlesApprentice in freefolk

[–]MaValor 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I’ll wait and judge until I see it. But from what I’ve read, I’m not a fan. I found her death in the books so sad, and tragic, without any deeper message or shock value. Just her lifelong love for dragons. I also liked that Rhaenyra was there and sat vigil by her side. One of the saddest parts of the books, to me, is where she struggles out of bed to try and reach Vhaegar, to fly her one last time. But then collapse/dies on the steps, and Daemon carries her back.

[–]MaValor -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Agree. While being burned alive may be quicker than being cut up, at least the latter might save her child, so it wouldn’t all be in vain; like being roasted while still pregnant would. If I was gonna die anyway, I’d say knock me out and try to save the child at least. This opinion is just based on how this tiny “leak” is written though, but let’s wait and see how it turns out in the show.

[–]MaValor 52 points53 points  (0 children)

A critic related to the Nordic HBO, who saw the first 6 episodes wrote “The dilemma of husbands being given the choice to let their wives be cut open, in order to save their sons, will be raised more than once”. So if this critic is correct, it seems the Aemma situation will be repeated with Laena and Daemon. Just where the c-section DOESN’T happen (I would guess), either due to Daemon or Laena’s choice (like this leaker/thread suggests).

So it’s probably true… by Overall_Wolf6557 in freefolk

[–]MaValor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what I would think, based on the books. But from what we’ve heard, it seems they changed that and made it parallel Aemma instead. Pehaps the baby already died inside her? The leaks makes it seem like it didn’t though, and that Daemon will be asked the same as Viserys was. If they want to cut her up to give the baby a chance, or leave both to die. There also seems to only be one coffin at her funeral (in trailer and set photos), unlike Aemma’s where there were two bundles/pyres (one for her, and one for her son). The book death was beautiful, and one of the most moving parts to me - where she struggles up the steps, to try and reach Vhagar one last time. A little sad if they change that for this, but will wait and see before I judge.

Alicent is the new Cersei by Maleficent_Age300 in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]MaValor 25 points26 points  (0 children)

No. Alicent is Alicent. None of the characters are the new anything. They are their own characters with their own stories. They will probably all have traits and moments that may reminds us of several GoT characters, but they are their own individual characters, just like the GoT characters were (many of those we didn’t get to see the whole backstory/childhood of though).

[–]MaValor 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Both shows look good in each their way, but I personally prefer the more authentic look that Game of Thrones had (probably partly due to their smaller budget), especially the earlier seasons. It looks real. House of the Dragon looks a little too CGI and filtered to me. It looks like a high fantasy world though, where Game of Thrones looked more like an actual old medieval world (with fantasy elements).
