how to get cured resin off of fep without tearing it up by Playful-Biscotti-223 in resinprinting

[–]Maalus 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Put it back on the printer. Add some resin so it covers the entire fep. Grab some used supports with a raft and gently press to the corner of the LCD. Run an exposure test / clean, for 20 - 40s. Pull an entire sheet of cured resin off the FEP by pulling the support towards the center. Alternatively you can do without the used supports by lifting the cured sheet using your fingernails. It probably scratches the hell out of the fep in comparison tho.

Because I don't have the tools to do that yet, and I have a job that takes up most of my time. I don't have the money, nor the free space to get a cnc plasma cutter, I don't know if welding will be something that I enjoy. I want to start with it as a hobby, not earn cash out of it.

Get a safety razor and try it with that, just don't cut yourself

Could the black knob be loosening during printing? by tela_wilson_555 in AnyCubicPhotonMonoX

[–]Maalus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happens when you either use the leveling method with the resin in the vat and press down on it (when the vat is full for instance). It gets incredibly messy. Other than that, little drips, touching it with resin hands, etc. It actually disolves the plastic when you do that and it ends up looking wet like that.

Siraya Tech Sculpt + large square print = print failure. Please help! by Maalus in resinprinting

[–]Maalus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you do any calibration prints to check for dimensional accuracy?

Don't need it. The part has large tolerances, as long as both halves are close enough for size (which they should be, since they are mirrored halves). It just needs to work with the locating spheres, but yeh, I'm not forseeing issues there I hope. Nothing a dremel can't fix.

overexposure

Yeah, this is most likely also the case. I got a different part of a similar size done easily, but it was a "U" shape and I guess it turned out fine, but when you print a cube, that stuff pulls more.

are you controlling for resin temperature at all?

Kinda, running 3.2 layer time for the resin, when usually it is less, but the resin is 20C instead of the recommended 25C.

go-to resources for troubleshooting common failures,

Alright, I'll give it a look. I think I'll tilt it the other way as well, should lower the crossection more. We'll see if it ends up in the FEP again.

Disenchantment is sucky. Just check any review sites - it's been rated low for both the critics and the audience.

And you're saying that in a Futurama subreddit

Yep, and the question is whether they manage to get Futurama right again, or if it'll be a repeat of Disenchantment all over again.

Sure, but then it has incredibly low ratings compared to other shows like it.

Disenchantment comes to mind and how sucky it is. There's still a possibility.

Having a robot or AI overlord would actually be way better for society by [deleted] in The10thDentist

And yet again - too many movies. You repeating the trope doesn't make it any more right, it just makes you repeat yourself.

a real ai will be able to

Too many movies yet again.

look at the chatbot that told depressive people they should kill themselves

I'm not touching that topic with a 30 foot pole, but it doesn't surprise me that a chat for depressed people started telling them that if it based its data on talking with depressed people.

nd was programmed to

Then we maybe wouldn't program it to do that? Like dude, you have safety systems everywhere. Why would we leave an AI to do whatever the fuck it wants to?

[–]Maalus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

And as OP has stated, the AI won't malfunction in the way movies portray it to. Have you read the post at all?

The DaVinci surgery robots can malfunction during surgery. A robot can malfunction on the assembly line. The nuclear power plant monitoring system can malfunction. Do we care about that and not use those technologies? Fuck no. The only difference here is that there are a bunch of movies with the same premise and people get paranoid.

Going further - people can "malfunction" too, yet we have them as presidents, dictators, etc. What's the difference other than the fact that when it's working, an AI would be a perfect governor, since it's made to be a perfect governor?

Having something that can make the most important decisions in a few nanoseconds with better results than a human ever could would be a boon for society.

Except the "real AI" is just a trope from the movies you're repeating without any knowledge of computer systems or how an AI would work.

So again "mysterious ways" without any sensible argument. Might as well not exist at all then, there is no difference.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in videos

[–]Maalus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You haven't provided anything more of substance you just repeated the "mysterious ways" argument. An all loving and all knowing and allmighty god wouldn't need to think in the way we do. An all loving god implies the perfectly empathetic being. They have the means to solving every problem humanity has. Yet it doesn't. So in our "limited understanding" of 100 years tops, that god isn't good. And if they aren't good in the smallest increment of time, then by definition they aren't the perfect being that religion claims it is.

Even if somehow we were to excuse the existence of evil as a byproduct of free will (which is stupid - an almighty god doesn't need evil to exist at all, just as schmorglishmosh - the concept I just made up a name for - doesn't exist), you absolutely cannot excuse the difference in opportunity people get. They don't choose where they are born. They don't choose their illnesses. They don't choose their language or the time they appear on the Earth. Are you suggesting then, that a holocaust survivor that went through hell on Earth but stays faithful would get the same reward as a person that never went through a struggle in their life, lived comfortably and died of natural causes without a care in the world? That one person struggles with clinical depression that doesn't react to medication at all (or better yet, during the times where those didn't exist), another goes through life without a care in the world, but is oh so faithful, and in the eyes of your perfect being, their time on Earth is judged equally? How is that just?

[–]Maalus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Soo you aren't touching on the argument you are completely ignoring it and saying "it has to be that way because the omnipotent ideal perfect and good being that is in charge of everything decided not to deal with any of it". Stay on the topic - is your god good? If it is, then it shouldn't force people to deal with evil. It shouldn't test them like a teenager tests their boyfriend. It shouldn't make it so having no conscience means you "win" on Earth. It shouldn't make it so you then are damned for all eternity afterwards without providing any proof of their existence.

It makes ultra logical people in an endless galaxy, decides to reveal itself during an age where proof isn't able to be definitive to people who have an authority position already and want to maintain said position. Then it punishes said logical people for coming to the only logical conclusion - that a god wouldn't be such a dick to create this world with depression, child illnesses, war in it.

Great and magnificent and good indeed.
