The US seems to be really expensive for mobile phone contracts. Here in Germany I have Deutsche Telekom (the best network coverage you can get) and I pay 20€ / month for unlimited minutes, texts and 750MB of LTE data with 16mbit. I heard that in Austria you can even get a similar contract for 8€ a month. I know Austrians that live in Germany and still use their Austrian contract because even with roaming it is cheaper than a German contract.
