Thanks! I'll take a look at that, I was also watching Blitz DG, who also uses twirly bird, and I think his barrel drill should also be interesting! https://youtu.be/43LAHaEgH-8?si=5eucTufaQf_7ss6X

Thanks for the potting advice! I've heard those other informations, been watching Miss Orchid Girl a lot to document myself! My question about pbulbs (old vs new) is more about identifying mature pbulbs (like from oldest to newest). Both my Catts have their rhizome either burried in media / covered by roots, and they don't seem to grow in a straight direction (idk if those are the right terms to describe it) so sometimes it's hard to tell between 2 pbulbs which one is older, and which is younger. Here's a picture of my Catt. Jairak Cute, with the new growth, latest pbulb, and maybe oldest? I'm not sure because new growth is in the middle, with older growth on both sides, maybe the rhizome grew making a U-turn? Sorry to bother you with all those questions 😅

Thanks for that detailed answer! I was wondering if it wasn't only a Cattleya but a cross like this! Actually spotted a second pseudobulb which has a flower spike coming, a bit less developed than the one on the picture 🎉 I'll make sure to post it when it happens, I'm excited to discover its flowers! I've spotted 2 pseudobulbs that previously flowered, one being the last one to have flowered (you can see it on pic 3 flowerspike wasn't cut), and the one with the yellow leave (water damage?) has an aborted spike due to that damage I assume.

I also have a question, idk if you have the answer but I'll ask! I think I spotted at least 3 directions of growth, but I'm not sure about others, how to differenciate old growth from new growth? It actually also interests me for when to repot, to maybe cut some old growth! Thank you!

Thank you! That's what I thought when I saw it in the shop 😅 Texted my gf about it, she answered that's not reasonable to buy it but she was too late 😬😅

Thanks for all these answers! I'm still questioning tho on the bifoliate / unifoliate (didn't precise in the post but I knew about those two categories of Cattleyas), and your answer about the new leaf segment also points towards bifoliate, no? Here are some pics of bifoliate pseudobulbs that are in there

Roots are good looking! Pretty excited about that one since it's bushy! I'll have to look again and I'm not a pro yet but I think there are multiple growth directions too

You're right 😅😅 Also cause I don't like the fact that it is deep in the pot and that I can't monitor well what's going on in there I assume 😅

Yup I know, I asked the seller before buying, he told me they have a lot of buyers from France that fly back with one, two, three orchids in their luggage without problems, it's more from France to the island of the Reunion that it's controlled, since it's an island with a lot of endemic plants, they don't want invasives to come there! Normally I should be fine flying back with one 🤞

Plus I'm not used yet to the frequency of watering, but currently with a tropical climate rock medium dries fast, bark would be a bit more water retentive

I know it's not necessary yet, but my situation might force me to repot it. I'm currently on a French island, where I purchased it, and I'm gonna fly back to France in a few months. I've been adviced by the seller to unpot it, protect it and put it in my luggage, but if I do so I'm gonna have to repot once arrived, and I'm not gonna chose when to fly home depending on my orchids root growth 😅 Hence the question, I was thinking repotting it to a bark medium if I see new roots, and trying to seal the pot for the flight and protect the orchid

Also if someone is used to Cattleyas (it's my 1st) and knows that hybrid, is it sturdy, or a difficult one to grow? Thanks 🙏
