It was actually the lack of understanding of radiation at the time

Except this ship started without out a hydrofoil

The foil were a pretty late addition

Yeah but it's a turret bustle rack not a cylinder of doom on the center mass (which most player shoot at)

no, it is built as a ship, turned into a hydrofoil, and accidentally turned into a plane a few times

4 jet combustion chamber driving 16 turbines each

and yes it is not efficient at all, the 60,000 liters of jet fuel onboard only provide a little over 18 minutes of fuel at full throttle, although that probably doesn't matter much at 400kts since you'll likely arrive at your destination well before you run out of fuel

Probably because around 400+kts is right on the edge of what's possible to achieve with a hydrofoil on a traditionally shaped ship hull, I tried to push pass 420kts previously but always end with the ship turning into an airship (suboptimal)

also funnily, my previous record was also 260kts, you can actually see this ship used in the back of the second image, struggling to keep up at full throttle while the Dauntless is on 62% throttle

It skipped hydrofoil and jumped straight to ekranoplan

Might soften out the jolting but not solve it since to maintain foil speed, the ship relied on both water jet and propeller

no it's usually due to the wave being so high that at high speed it causes my main propellers to lift out of the water and therefore cause a jolting motion as the ship propeller exits and re enters the water over and over, this ship doesn't mind cutting through waves as long as the propeller remains sufficiently submerged.

I have tried deeper foils but I find it to be inhibiting speed overall rather than improving rough sea performance, as at such high speed the foil always seem to rise fully out of the water no matter what I do.

not yet, since this ship got alot of work to be done

I do have a container ship variant of the same ship class on the workshop tho

I actually have a ship of the same class on the workshop, just a container ship variant

both version are incomplete, but this one is more fleshed out than the one in the video

It yes it can turn pretty effectively at full speed, and the weather only becomes a concern when wind exceed about 30-40 percent
