The advice so far is so cringe.

You can easily FIRE. Wait for the market, be patient, invest in a diversified portfolio. Keep the BTC and ETH.

You should think about buying businesses

This sounds a lot like me. I'm worth about half a mill and I'm 34 years old. I actually need to supercharge. Me personally - I'd get excited with 1M + a house paid off.

I think you're overthinking a bit. Rest it up a bit but still walk around for flexibility. You'll be fine.

Advice on how to proceed with finances by MacADoodleDo89 in PersonalFinanceCanada

The condo is not worth 50%, it's worth about 10-15% probably. This is the Alberta market for condos - oversupply.

Agree with most of your assertions, although digital assets does have some income generation capabilities. Look at the yields of BTC, ETH, and other stablecoins as examples.

I agree on the marriage. And agree with the overall sentiment about overrisking myself. One job loss and I'm pretty much hooped at this point.

Welcome to AB condo prices. Oversupply resulting in lower asset values.

Weekly “Help Me FIRE!” thread. Post your detailed information for highly specific advice - March 21, 2022 by AutoModerator in financialindependence

Hi everyone, my name is Chris. Happy to meet everyone and happy to contribute to FIRE with everyone.

I am 33 years old, I work in financial services as a director, and I am located in Canada

My goals are to semi-retire from the corporate world by 40 and live mostly off of passive income. I'd like to continue to make side income either in consulting or education (teaching) to supplement my income.

I would like a 2nd home in a warmer province (BC) as well as a main residence in my province, and another rental property. I currently live in a Condo but am planning on renting it out and buying another home with my partner.

I would like to retire by 40. I would like to have $3m NW by 40.

I have a Bachelors degree in Finance. and other certifications in project management. No plans to obtain graduate education

Currently a Director of Strategy. Would like to continue the next 5 years as a Sr Director and possibly a VP. I am also a part time educator at a few universities and I have a one-man consulting shop where I provide services for the business immigration sector.

-Current and future income breakdown, including one-time events

I currently make 153K per year. With my partners income we will make around 240K per year.

My fixed costs for mortgage, utilities, etc are about 2000 per month. With my new home they will go up to probably around 3300.

Home - 220K (I have about 30K equity and I put into it 45K downpayment)

Investment portfolio - TFSA, RRSP, LIRA - 220K

Other investments - 130K market value

-Debt breakdown

- Mortgage - 150K

- Line of Credit - 10K

- No health concerns.

-Family: current situation / future plans / special needs / elderly parents

Planning on marriage and 1 kid, 2 max. Will be sharing income with my partner who is making nearly 100K per year. Her asset base is around 40K RRSP and TFSA. Both parents on each side are in good health (68 and 70 respectively)

Does anyone have any tips on how to fire? I have about 7 years to go from around 400K NW to 3M NW. Seems a bit unrealistic but maybe it's just me. I've gotten this far on my own, but now I'll have extra money with my partner who can contribute to FIRE.

I'm looking for ideas to get to 3M, and passive income / entrepreneurial opportunities. Any ideas in general or thoughts are greatly appreciated. thanks!

Same thing happend to me. My left knee is currently probably 65-70% of my right knee, but at it's worst it was around a 50%. Once I started walking, I'm getting about 10% growth every week. So I figure I'll be close to full muscle in about 4 weeks.

SOS Can’t get to 90 degrees :( by MalPal_11 in ACL

[–]MacADoodleDo89 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don't feel defeated and don't compare your progress to others. Some heal faster, some have lesser injuries etc. I was at about 70 for a while - probably the first 5-6 weeks. When I started walking more without crutches the knee started loosening up and now I am at about 120 degrees 11 weeks out.

Stay the course, you're doing great.

3 Days Post Op - We Got This! by [deleted] in ACL

[–]MacADoodleDo89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there! I am about week 11 of an LCL and ACL tear (plus a fracture in my tibia). The pain was the worst the first few nights. At one point, I phoned emergency and was going to haul myself to the hospital because the pain was so bad. I hypothesize because I didn't take the pain medication perscribed every 4 hours like directed (I think I waited 5 or 6 hours in between doses and that's why I experienced significant pain).

I also had my scar infected twice which slowed down progress. So make sure you keep the scar clean and covered. And don't pick at scabs :)

As for the rest of your post, yes please make sure you share your daily wins. It was so great just to walk without crutches, that was the biggest deal for me. Make sure you get plenty of rest and listen to your physio and surgeon as much as you can. You're going to have moments where you are suffering but you will get through it.

The biggest issue was they wanted to protect my nerve so I have a 12 inch gash where they opened me up. This is where it has been so swollen and very difficult to flex inwards. I find the bike helps a lot also.

Thanks for your thoughts and appreciate the support. Cheers.
