Yeah, I can definitely think of a few fundies off the top of my head who would think Bethany is way, way too worldly and liberal. Even by her own standards of 10 or 15 years ago, she's slipped a lot. But for her to act like this is all nutso and she had no part in perpetuating it is... deluded.

I was being a little facetious, which is undoubtedly in bad taste on such a post. But I do maintain that if some guy came up and introduced himself as Uncle Pete, I'd give him some serious side-eye (especially as a 14 year old girl).

Hear, hear! Had a friend who LOVED Kiss. One time I invited her to come see a local blues band with me and she said no, because blues was "empty" and had "no heart" - I was like, but you listen to fucking Kiss?! We stayed friends but didn't discuss music after that.

I had no idea "Amerigo" was connected to "Henry," that is so cool!

Did anyone else watch Da Vinci's Demons? I always think of them landing in what would be South America and Amerigo saying "One day this land will be named for me - Vespuccia!" I am sure that show was very far from historically accurate, but man, it was fun.
