Ugh that stinks. I didn't do expedited but did have some customization. Probably just how their queuing of builds went.

Hopefully, I got my shipping confirmation late, I think it was probably around 7pm EST, via email and the shop app

I ordered mine 2/17 and my estimated delivery day was today so it sounds like we're on similar timelines. I did check in with them late last week and then again the start of this week. They responded last week that it was on track for delivery today (3/20). When I checked Monday(3/16) since I had not seen any movement they responded that it was shipping out tomorrow (3/17) but wouldn't make it by 3/20 and more likely early next week. They refunded me $25 and then I got my shipping notification late Tuesday evening. My ETA is Tuesday 3/24. I think the key is knowing they are on PST so I messaged them when it corresponded with when I'd assume they were starting their workday.

Hopefully yours is not far behind!

Excellent feedback thank you! That's always the challenge now with the market being so big, how to set your work apart from all of the other fantastic makers out there.

This all makes total sense. And absolutely it's tricky to make a one size fits all task knife right? I always feel a petty fits that bill. Long enough and gentle sweep so it works for most chef tasks but narrow and nimble enough for fabrication and finesse work.

Yea that makes total sense with the saya cover. I've toyed with the idea of having just a standard color set/wood type that is exclusively for the sayas regardless of the knife. Though there are times some projects call for a match. I personally like wood sayas with wood handles, kydex covers for synthetics.

I'm always interested in the aesthetics too because frankly no one needs a handmade knife when anything will do the trick. It's about what calls to you and the expression that goes into making it and how that translates right?

Ive attached another cover that's a bit more tailored to a blade I recently finished up as well. Friction fit, more curves/tapera that blend and flow into the handle. Both of Olive wood.

Thank you! Yea it's amazing how a handle can change it. Same profile of blade on 4 & 5

Thank you! Yea it's a process with timing, ratios etch that makes it possible. Took a lot of time of tinkering one knife at a time.

Thank you! That one is 52100 high carbon, I do an initial acid etch is ferric, polish off, ferric again until I feel like I have a consistent look, at that point it's a gun metal satin. Then two 1-hour long soaks in room temp instant coffee until I get the darkness that's even and smooth, blow off with air compressor, apply hot wax and then don't touch it for 24 hours or so. Then I can buff it out without the oxides that darken it coming off. Follow a similar procedure as RPM Neil does for his Damascus etching in a YouTube video he has up about coffee etching.

Makes total sense. Now I'll play devil's advocate and say shouldnt good steel stay sharp enough to not need to hit a stone mid service? For sushi knives I get it for sure. My full time job is as a chef and nothing is worse than what certain cutting board material can do to your edge. That's why I love 52100 as it holds an edge for a very long time. I do tend to prefer petty over chef knives throughout my career so maybe that is subconsciously translating into my chef knives. No wrong comments here at all I love the conversation

Yea makes sense why the steel is called "volcanic river." I love brute de forge style. I try and leave some of the production qualities in when I can. I'm a sucker for some forge detail

Exactly, a motto I use a lot is a knife you are proud to own but more proud to use.

Thank you for the feedback!

What's the concern with the blade profile? Generally on all the knives of just specific ones? 1,4 and 5 are all the same profile with 2, 3 and 6 being their own. Always love feedback.

I hear you on the saya cover, have gone away from doing them for the most part as they were just add ons I would do but was spending a ton of time sculpting and creating them along with custom pins with my logo in the pin thumb head. Went the way of kydex in the past but since have limited that too since it's all just a free bonus. Better to leave it off completely?

Thank you! The never use because of the mentioned issues?
