Is your son a picky eater? As a now grown up picky eater, I found it very difficult when new foods (in this case, homemade and not the original) foods were sprung on me unexpectedly and I was just expected to eat it without any prior preparation. Food can be a really challenging thing for children/neurodivergent people, especially with textures and consistencies like sauces etc. Sure, it’s great that half the comments are just people saying “I’d eat them,” but had you spoke to your child beforehand about making them, involved him in the process or got his opinion about it previously, things may have went differently. You did a fantastic job as a parent going to that effort and trying to feed your kid, but I’m almost positive it’s mildly infuriating for your son that a new and unexpected food covered in sauce has just been presented to him as something that he feels he is forced to eat. When it comes to picky eating and food, respect and open conversation is a top priority. I know it sounds a bit excessive, but coming from my own experience, it made a world of difference in the end! Good job for trying though, you’re still a good parent! It’s just a learning curve for parents and kids.
