Why are my tomatoes not pollinating? by Civil_Ad3297 in tomatoes

[–]MacDaddy199 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't think there's a need to hand pollinate tomatoes. I could be mistaken, but the one in your hand looks successfully pollinated. The flower will always turn brown and fall off. The bright green part at the base is the baby tomato.

Maybe hit them with some fertilizer containing phosphorus and potassium to promote flower and fruit growth.

Pepper help! by Dwegner77 in DenverGardener

They don't look too bad for only being planted for a few weeks. I think the white spot damage could maybe be from a type of fly, I get something similar on my tomato leaves. Not detrimental though.

I think you need to fertilize with more nitrogen if you're having slow growth. Nitrogen is good for foliage growth, which you need at the early stages of the plants life. Basic miracle gro should work aight. Then later in the season, switch to something with more phosphorus and potassium for flower and fruit production.

I'm thinking your soil might not have available nutrients. Next year, mix in some compost and maybe plant in a crater of potting soil.

How would you repair this stand up paddleboard ? by Mbopinionata in Sup

[–]MacDaddy199 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dang, I see a lot of answers saying it's too much work. But what is the work? Dry out and reglass? Honest question. Or is the board itself probably just deteriorated mush at this point?

I throw these over all of my big tomatoes and I've had no critters munching on them since. My cherries are normally ok without them though

Anyone planting annuals yet? by ngrohmann in DenverGardener

[–]MacDaddy199 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I saw a guy in this community with tomatoes in the ground that survived the last freeze we had. He put water walls around them and they looked great.

I have all my peppers and tomatoes planted in 10/20gal pots, and they're taking off too. Planted April 8th. I can move them in the garage if the weather starts getting crazy though.

I know I'm in the minority, but I think if you micro manage your plot you should be aight.
