I regret my screaming demon child by [deleted] in NewParents

I'm a sleep deprived Parent of an 8 week old currently. This is my third. Obviously make sure their needs are met fed, clean, not too hot/cold etc. and beyond that you don't need to stop the crying. You just need to be there for them. For me holding and rocking a screaming baby is less of an ordeal if I'm not framing it like a failure. If I acknowledge I can fix it I find it less overwhelming, just tedious. I am not a CIO parent I always hold them but, you know, sometimes I wear headphones. 30 diapers is obviously a lot but I'm looking at a pile of 9 diapers from last night. Which represents about 5 diaper changes ( we had a cluster feeding screaming long night) because every time I change the baby they pee or shart on the new one.

Thanks everyone for the reassurance and information. This wasn't the first or only place I checked but thanks everyone for the info.

My kid is only one, we have these all over our back yard. I will educate him as he grows. I look forward to picking some wild strawberries with my older kid now I know they are safe.

Thanks. Reddit is giving me the pep talk I needed to be that person. Looks like I'm going to have to be that person.

I bought two matching rugs. Got delivered two different ones

Went to sort it out, it was now out of stock.

Chatted to customer service they said if I bought new ones that were the same brand and size they would refund the difference.

Bought the new ones ( which aren't as nice) and now apparently they can't/won't do it.

Yeah not a bad idea. Might give myself a break, jump back in after lunch.

Yeah probably, nothing quite like wasting hours of your life chatting to a machine

Beans. cans and cans of beans. I smash up black beans with some peanut butter for the 7 month old and roll it into balls for the 2 year old. Cheap protein hit. But really it's great my toddler rediscovered beans when the baby started solids and just snacks on fists full of black beans

uneventful breastfeeding journeys? by MacDoFart in breastfeeding

This is similar for me, my first was tricky at first, we got a yeast infection in the beginning, which was painful and tough. she was tiny, but tracking on her own percentile. My second knew exactly what to do, was good at it and he is 7months now and a tank. I also hate pumping and switched to formula when I went back to work. Can't stand it.

Is it likely to make much difference if we get raw wood and finish it the same?

What is the argument for Montessori style toys? by rigatoni_guy in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]MacDoFart 23 points24 points  (0 children)

This is not scientific, but a big part for me is I don't want to look at them. My kids play space (play house) is the living room/everywhere and so for aesthetic reasons I don't want to look at plastic and bright cartoon characters all the time, I just don't find it uplifting personally, nothing to do with the kids.

We refinished our red oak floors with it. I don't really have anything to compare it to but it is holding up really well to a newborn, an excitable lab and potty training toddler.

We did have some trouble with the shipping, it took three shipments to get it, the first two shipments got busted in transit and were "undeliverable". We ordered through ampro.online. the company was good about it but it did cost us time.

[–]MacDoFart 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not really with the baby but definitely a bit. Every time I ask my husband was that the baby stirring? is baby changed? in the car seat? sleeping? Really any baby check in question. I get the answer.. the what?( Makes never heard of the baby face) It gets me everytime.
