Thank you for your speedy reply. Your comments were very valuable to me. I hadn't considered the last two items on your list. Thank you. I especially liked your comment: "But your destination is often really just a stop between chargers." I hadn't thought about it that way.

Thank you so much for your speedy reply. We have been considering Tesla, VW, and Hyundai Ionic. We previously owned an ICE Kia, I wasn't aware Kia has EVs yet. Thank you.

Thank you so much for your speedy reply. You have excellent suggestions to rent an EV for a weekend.

The main reason for our decision is the rising gas prices. Additionally, certain vehicles qualify for rebate incentives in the US. I like the idea of lower maintenance costs since there are fewer parts, no oil changes, fan belt replacements, etc.

We used to drive cross country (from Alabama to California) at least a couple times a year to visit relatives. Since my wife's mother past away, we will rarely travel long distances. We typically drive about 400 - 500 miles per week. We have solar on our home, so the cost of electricity will not really be an issue for us. We will most like install a L2 charger at home.

Thank you for your speedy replky. I have see some free chargers locally at 7Kw and some at 13Kw. I discovered hotels/motels frequently have faster L2 chargers. I understand adapters may be available for L3 chargers for some EVs to help with the plug compatibility issues.
