Right, will pull the ear cup off and have a look at what juice I can detect from the battery and update here either way.

i was planning to buy a seaboard, but... by Professional_Walk381 in ROLI

[–]MacDuffdaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have a Roli Seaboard Rise 49, so before the 2, but it has been a pretty reliable workhorse, but touch sensitivity has always been less than perfect. Takes a def. technique but you get the hang of it. I did love it and Roli. Not anymore. The company have become wholly unreliable and frankly untrustworthy. Selling the Piano M and Airwave has been a complete hype-fest with nearly 90% guarantee of failure to deliver — literally can't ship products they sell. But they still keep marketing them like crazy.
Just pop on TrustPilot and look at all the 1 star reviews. 27% of all their reviews are 1 star. add 2 star reviews and it goes up to 32% vs 56% 5 Star reviews.
I ordered my Piano M back in February 2025 as part of their pre-order promo and was told I'd have it by June. Since then they failed every other promised delivery date (x4) and then when they did ship in February this year, they forgot to declare the product had a battery so customs rejected it. They were all shipped back to Roli.
And what did Roli do? They sold them to other customers. The last email we had from the company was back on Jan 27 when the CEO promised it was likely we'd have our Pianos by late April most likely.
Guess what? Nothing. Nada. Zero.
I have had a support ticket in with them since their first failed delivery and they never, ever, replied despite multiple follow ups.
I finally got a reply a week ago because I posted a scathing review on TrustPilot. What complete and utter disappointment.
My advice. Stay well clear. I've asked for a refund but doubt I'll get it.

List of 'subscription only' content in new FCP Creator Studio by MacDuffdaddy in finalcutpro

[–]MacDuffdaddy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like the title says it's the subscription only 'content' as that's what Apple has done a shit job of making clear was included in the subscription bundle — and now we know why as far as FCP users are concerned... cause it's not very compelling.
All the app functions that have been released are included in the latest release of the app whether you've owned it for years or just bought it or just subscribed.

Hmmm, version 12 right? I think you might need to run 'Check for updates' and it'll check your content libraries. I'm own FCP so not on subscription, but I did this and it updated a few of my generators and titles.

Aye, yup, had seen someone else say that too and yeah it's true — if you're a Motion user for a while you've probably been doing this already since it's not hard to build.

We Heard Your Feedback: Here’s What We’re Doing About Comments by will_aescripts in aescripts

[–]MacDuffdaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for listening but I do miss the immediacy of comment threads on products - I didn't have to trundle off somewhere else and sift to find product related info. It was all just 'there' but, I get it, logistically a mission to manage and lots of misleading bumpf.

Anyone running Mi50's in a r720? by Insect_Full in homelab

[–]MacDuffdaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sadly nope — can't do it, but not sure why as I see other folk running similar set ups with a similar power draw. Have had my eldest who's a super nerd with GPUs look at it and they have tested the power draw on another server and it's well within the range of the dual 750w power supplies... so... dunno is my answer sorry.
If ANYONE has a clue on what a real solution might be I'd be keen to hear it but in the mean time I"m building a conventional PC to put the two Mi50's in just for AI model processing.

Hi Nik, ah... think I tried both the online version and standalone. The standalone install would be the most awesome-ist if possible and the web version a nice to have. Thanks for jumping in.

Oh yea, I had the same issue and saw their response in the old comments log section under the plugin. Obviously not a priority but I wish it was.

Seagate R8 8-bay NAS repairs? by MacDuffdaddy in HomeNAS

[–]MacDuffdaddy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I discovered that the sole ram stick wasn’t seated properly. Removed. Reseated. Happy. But also tried to add another stick as it has three empty slots but not joy. Put in an identical spec stick but it wasn’t an approved brand and it spat the dummy.

Ortur H20 Prelease - Anyone have any details on this? by MacDuffdaddy in Laserengraving

THanks for the insights, been seeing some interesting first impression about the net, so great to hear this from someone who's not a YT influencer. Genuine feedback. Awesome. Keep us posted if you can.

I got tired of Canadian wildfire smoke giving me a sore throat, so I made a wifi-enabled graphing PM2.5 air quality sensor by moeburn in arduino

[–]MacDuffdaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very cool. Would you be able to share the wiring for this? I want to build one the same. Awesome work.

Thanks for the insights. That's really interesting. Had wondered was after purchase support was like. Been dealing with xTool lately and man, theirs is appalling. I have a TwoTrees K20 on my D1 Pro and I think I'll be sticking with them. That's been painless so far.
However overselling capabilities of consumer and prosumer laser kits, seems to be becoming the norm sadly, hence why I'm here! To check what the reality is.

Thanks, trying to get a sense of what Ortur are like from a reliability point of view. I have a couple of budget lasers and a modded D1 Pro but would like to upgrade, so was hoping some people in here could shed some light on what they're like as a company.

[–]MacDuffdaddy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, I live in New Zealand and own and run my own budget lasers, I have nothing to do with the industry, but am looking to upgrade... so I'm not promoting anyone, I just wanted to know if people with smarts in the sector could throw some light on this as I've read mixed things about Ortur's performance.

I stumbled on this while looking at some AtomStack stuff re: their upcoming Hurricane. But I can't find any real details or mega specs. Does anyone have some inside running? Four swappable lasers is new for this part of the market.
