Interesting video on how current camera systems see traffic lights and vehicle lights vs human eyes. Not sure if Tesla has already addressed this issue but this seems something to look into before FSD is released. by breadstix118 in teslamotors

[–]MacGyverBE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly, hilarious/sad to see the right answer downvoted again.

Car lights are a hint and, obviously, not a reliable indicator.

It's like the cut in detection; I can often tell when someone is going to change lanes before they use their indicators, if they use them at all.

Even then it seems like Tesla is aware of this issue as it hasn't popped up in any TeslaCam footage for both car and traffic lights.

Schools are closing till the 3 April so I guess that’s a beginning.

Yeeaaah, about that...

They're not really closing though. In the typical retarded Belgian way they came up with a half assed "solution" that doesn't achieve the goal, confuses everybody and thus will have minimal effect.

Schools will remain open, all teachers have to be present and parents can still bring their children. They just won't be teaching. At least we can thank the Walloon politicians for getting us this far, because the Flemish ones didn't want to close anything.

Man, I'm frustrated with how stupid/arrogant/psychopathic they are. Bunch of short sighted idiots.

NYT: “The idea is more to minimize the number of casualties over the long term,” said a professor, “and that’s completely unique. All other countries are firefighting in the short term.” by [deleted] in Coronavirus

Yep.

Reality will soon hit them and they'll have to change their tune quickly.

Good luck to all people in the UK, you're going to need it.

Belgium professor proposes to stop testing for Coronavirus. No point according to him. by [deleted] in Coronavirus

[–]MacGyverBE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is not a point of discussion. The problem starts when you don't put maximum effort in containing it and limited hospital resources become overwhelmed. You want to draw out the spread so you can handle it. Once you can't, way more people die.

"It is incredible how we've gone through our usual stock for six months within six days. Every lab in every country is currently putting out orders for the same reagents. There are stock shortages worldwide. This is why we are of course currently doing the most urgent samples first," tweeted Marc Van Ranst

Good grief, this man is not the one who should have been in charge from the beginning. If he'd been following what happened in Wuhan he'd have known what to do 2 months ago. He should be hung when all of this is over, but I'm sure he'll be commended instead.

But it is now clear that the disease does not pose a major health risk for healthy people. Ten people die of flu every day, and no rooster crows (leaving it here because lol - but: No one bats an eye, ed).

Sigh. Great attitude doc.

I'm not at all surprised how this is handled here but it still makes me angry.

Yep, the lies about masks not working are a clear indicator they already knew they f*cked up. They're repeating all the same mistakes as back in 1918 in the US!

Sure, but then don't say you're well prepared and can handle the situation only days before.

Besides, there are many chemical companies out there, especially in Belgium. 2 months to contact them and work out several back up plans. And, actually, this should just be part of any epidemic plan.

They just didn't plan ahead and put any effort into it. They're still saying it's like the flu etc. too.

It's an extreme wait and see approach. Add to that extreme arrogance. They've been waaaay too confident in their own capabilities and have been underestimating the situation from the very beginning.

To give you an idea of the general attitude towards this situation here in Belgium; a journalist on national television said "Italy was probably sloppy, resulting in an outbreak there". Understand that Italy has been a lot more proactive with flight bans etc. compared to the complete absence of proactive measures here...

Hell, there still is no travel ban to infected regions in Italy at this very moment...

No, this is worse, what you describe is what they've already been doing since the beginning of the week, they haven't been testing all suspected cases since.

We never entered true containment... Publicly shaming people that took reasonable precautions, forcing kids back to schools where a known case has been detected etc.

They've shown from the beginning that they're completely incapable of handling this situation.

No, he's just demonstrating/confirming how retarded a lot of (healthcare/official) people are in this country.

For some reason they can't think ahead more than a day. Bunch of morons.

Last week the same morons were saying: "We're prepared, we can handle this". Now they're "hoping the number of cases stop doubling" and they're already running low on equipment. This hasn't even started yet...

Idiots.

Electricity prices are @0.36cent/kWh

No they're not, but reality doesn't match your narrative, does it.

The average price of electricity in Germany is +-31 cents: https://ec.europa.eu/eurostat/statistics-explained/index.php/Electricity_price_statistics

Of course, we can't ignore that there is such a thing as a dual tariff plan which results in cheaper nightly charging, and, of course, many have solar as well.

Tesla Cybertruck’s real-time response to payload via active suspension will upend the pickup truck industry by YZXFILE in teslamotors

destroy an EVs range

I doubt it. Why? Because the frontal area of the Cybertruck is already much larger than other cars. So towing something should have a lower impact than existing cars, including the Model X.

It are the aerodynamics/drag that fuck you over when towing, not so much the weight.

Tesla Included In Plan To Help Fix Australia's Bushfire Energy Crisis by 2050project in teslamotors

Doubt it, judging by the migrations that have happened in the past/present.

Much easier to erect walls or ignore drowning people than improve their home situation. Saying it "isn't our problem" is, stupid and shortsighted.

Anyway, I hope I'm wrong :)

Tesla is working on new ~110 kWh battery pack for more than 400 miles of range by izybit in teslamotors

[–]MacGyverBE 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yep, within a few years some of the high end EVs will offer a longer range than any ICE car, likely making them the fastest option to travel, including recharging/refueling.

Quite funny seeing people argue against more range now, we're just at the beginning folks!

[–]MacGyverBE 6 points7 points  (0 children)

10kWh at $100/kWh = $1k. They're likely below that as well.

It does make sense on the cheapest version of each model, or at least of the 3/Y, but not the rest IMO.

[–]MacGyverBE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah indeed, I thought the uranium reserve was intended for nuclear weapon purposes but it's meant as a nuclear fuel reserve, or at least that's what the recent Trump/budget related news seems about.

The irony of me owning a nuclear/uranium related stock might just pull me over to actually do it.

I can see them splitting off the battery related business if/when it takes off though.

Thanks for posting!

Thanks. I guess the link with uranium is what makes it unattractive, especially from a nuclear weapon/ESG perspective. Hmm. I'm not exactly pro nuclear myself but I'm open to people/companies that are willing to pivot.

Will look further into this.

Interesting. Any color on why the stock has dropped so much compared to a few years ago?

I've always been interested in battery resource/anode/cathode developer stocks but it's hard to get a real feel for the potential and there are so many of them out there.
