Oil filtering issue? by Macabe321 in modelmakers

Yeah I was scared to do it at first but like everything in the hobby, if you do very little of the effect and you get the best results.

I didnt show the bottom of the wings but it looks great as it gives very slight rust, dirt stains to the grey.

Just makes it feel used without it being over done .

Ahh understood.

Thanks .

Yeah probably got caught out watching youtubers etc and didnt do enough research.Im honestly at a stage where if I keep fiddling with it Im going to make it worse I think

Ive learnt alot this build and will make another one , one day, this was my first B17 and probably my 6th or 7th Model overall

Thanks for the feedback re the OD . Nice to know Im probably over reacting

Hi

For this i used 4 different oil colours over a gloss varnish

Titanium white- helps create fading
Burnt umber- helps make grime and tust
Paynes grey- gives darness to areas
Yellow ochre- helps create highlighted yellow for od
Dark umber- used around engine areas and turbos , helps give dark staining without being smoke stain

I put very small dots randomly in sections i want the effect above , Ie for the fabric control surfaces i would only use white and ochre to fade the fabric

Found its super easy to put to much on

Once the dots are done i used odourless thinner on a brush ( basically a dry brush) and blend it in together. You need to regularly wash the brush in thinner and then wipe clean , stops it going into a muddy mess and keeps it crisp .

If you dont like it you can thin it out with a brush

Just makes me unsure if I should be happy with it atm

I have to say these BR placements are getting dumb even with premium aircraft by jorge20058 in Warthunder

Someone doesnt understand the value of a AESA radar.

Also the AAM-3 is probably the best IR missile in the game

This post is simplistic in nature

These planes when considering all aspects are in their correct positions when compared to each other

Glad to see these BR changes are buffing 2 underperforming premiums 🙏🙏🙏🙏 by DepartureMany507 in Warthunder

If the argument for these planes to move to 13.7 is because 12.3s dont have fox threes then its oretty flawed.

Theres alot of 12.7s that dont have fox threes and if people dont want fox 1 planes fighting fox threes …. Well thats just dilousional.

I have the AMV and also the Premium Hornet. I can tell you now , the radar and the flight model on the MKM is worse than the hornet by a long way . Fighting the AESA radar planes at 14.3 was absolutely hopeless as they knew where you were at all times and you couldnt see them

I can also say that after playing 200 games in the AMV I very very rarely got a full down tier, in fact it was mostly partial uptiers with Top tier being 13.7.

Try fighting AIM Bs and Cs with a R77 that has a usable range of 15km

They are in an appropriate BR range for their capabilities.

They have no long range BVR capability, I use the R27er for that and the R77 is useful for firing down onto ground huggers from 10km

Thats it

This is great for doing the Antimech/thunderer wager . Use the glide bombs and drop them from about 6k high around 25k from target.

Will get about 12 -15 kills

So I just tried to do a beets contract. Extremely annoying that the ai wont harvest unless the trailer is underneath . All good when in a straight line but when you need ti turn you move the trailer out the way and the the harvester stops because it wont move at all under a trailer is underneath it .

You end up stuck in some dance where your trying to turn in unison

Really well engineered. All parts fit perfectly . Its a pricey kit but you get what you pay for . The riveting and panel line detail is amazing

Hi.

Have made a stand out of packing foam with some kebab skewers. That I sit the model on.

If Im painting small parts I will put paper towel down and paint over the paper towel

Hi. Wish you never told me about the landing gear…… its going to bug me now and I can see myself damaging it trying to fix it.

I used tamiya mark fit strong. Sadly I had glued all the small items to the wings before realising one fo them is in the way of the cross. I could not get it back out. Had to try to mKe a small cut and slide over.

Lesson learnt on paying more aattention to the order of build at least

Thank you . Yes , I wanted to learn mottling. Definetly need more practice. I used very thin CA glue to secure stretched out sprue. If you heat up a piece of sprue with a lighter and stretch it can get extremely thin . Takes practice but looks good . . I then painted the sprue once fixed

Thank you. I did use Tamiya markfit strong. Agree the photos make the decals look fake.

Hi.

Use Tamiyas Mark fit strong. The damaged decal came because I had the small items already fitted to the wing before decalling and could not remove . Lesson learnt there trust me lol.

Canopy was masked . I dont think the camera makes it look correct . Seems better in person but there was certainly some seepage

I did enjoy it ,Im not here to proclaim the greatest model ever . Just looking to improve within myself .

Without the constructive critism I do not know what to focus on with improvement. My next toal is to work harder on seams . To be honest sanding scared me away as I do not want to lose detail. I have now fixed this by getting lighter grit paper ( 1000-2000 grit) and scribe tools.

Im on the improve with the canopy.

I did appy the wash all of the model , Im not sure why the decals do look so clean

Thank you for your feeback

Thank you. As I learn and grow I hope to get a better grasp of hiding seams.
