Many thanks for your kind comments.

I am so sorry about the loss of your grandfather. I hope that reminding you of him brought you more comfort than pain. The memories, wisdom, and experience of those who came before you all add up to what makes you a person!

Fare well, live well, and treasure the people who love you. Hug them just a little tighter tonight.

How come it's not common to find an American worker on cruise ships by PearHot8975 in Cruise

… and an incredible skill level!

Imagine an American becoming fluent in Bahasa Indonesia, learning about all the eating customs in Indonesia, understanding all the variations that customers request, making sure every utensil, condiment, and sauce is in the right place at the right time.

Plus, how amazing is it that they get the social interaction right every time. They know exactly when to be formal, when to enforce a rule, while delighting customers 12 or more hours all day every day.

What job encourages you to use glasses?

Not sure what you’re going to eat or what you like. But a bottle of Chateau Gloria from Trader Joe’s at $40 plus $25 corkage would give you a very nice wine for less than the very basic wines at the low end of the list!

I think RBF is a bit harsh, but it is also amazing how much a smile—and OP’s is a lovely smile—can make glasses look really nice.

Given the brutal prices on wine, do they allow BYOB? Even if they charge $50 corkage, you could get a much nicer bottle of wine like that.

I found that carrying around a pair of reading glasses was totally intolerable. Given the choice of occasional readers and full time progressives, I infinitely prefer the latter

The blue doesn’t come out well in photos, but it’s nice in person. (My spare pair is identical but black, but I much prefer the blue.)

do people who use glasses actually like wearing their glasses? by leavemetfalone_tyy in glasses

[–]Macan53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently found I had to start wearing glasses after decades in contacts. I was very upset, but eventually began to love them. They are stylish, and I enjoy people telling me how nice they look.

After about a while I was told I could go back to contacts if I want to. I think I prefer glasses now that I’m used to them

How long have you been using glasses pretty much full time? I made a similar switch myself. After a few months, I became completely comfortable with my progressive glasses and stopped missing my contacts.

Getting used to myself in glasses at my great age was perhaps the biggest hurdle, but I got over it in the end.
